The Mangla Dam is a multipurpose dam located on
the Jhelum River in the Mirpur District of Azad
Kashmir, Pakistan. It is the 9th largest dam in the
world.

7. Rasul Barrage is a barrage on the River
Jehlum between Jhelum District and Mandi
Bahauddin District of the Punjab province of
Pakistan.
It is situated 72 km downstream of Mangla
Dam. New Barrage and old barrage. New
barrage is in working condition and old
barrage (built by British gov.) is not in
working condition. Rasul Barrage is used to
control water flow in the River Jhelum for
irrigation and flood control purposes

reach Chiniot,” Chiniot-Bhowana Road was
also closed due to the breach in the Saim
Nallah Jhang Road which has affected more
than 18 villages.
12. Sargodha City is located in longitude 72o – 38‟ to
72o - 43‟ and latitude of 32o - 3‟ to 32o - 7‟
and is situated at a distance of about 180 km
towards north-west of Lahore. The city is well
connected to the other major cities Faisalabad
(90Km) and Jhang (126 Km),
Sheikhupura(143 Km), Khushab (45Km), Gujrat
(210 Km) and Sialkot is 214 km by metalled
road. The city is also connected with Lahore,
Faisalabad, Jhang and Rawalpindi by rail.
Sargodha also has cantonment board and Pakistan's
largest PAF airbase.

14. District Sargodha comprises of 6 tehsils among
these top affected tehsils are Bhalwal, Kot
Momin and Bhera tehsil. Almost 282 villages from
whole District Sargodha have been submerged
into water. As per the Flood Control Cell the
water level was over 800,000 cusecs in River
Chenab and the flood water hit almost 100-120
villages of Tehsil Kotmomin, Takhat Hazara, Midh
Ranjha and Sial Morr.
A flow of 250,000 cusecs water in River Jhelum
caused inundation in 80-90 villages of Tehsil
Shahpur. A total of 12 deaths and 5 injuries were
reported in the district leaving almost 800000
people homeless
