• All respondents experienced formal disciplined
ballet classes as a child
• Less formal classes in other genres
• Vocational training very competitive and formal in
any genre
• 80% of respondents change their teaching style
according the group/genre being taught
• Students dictate the culture
• Respect is earned and not given
• 100% of respondents agree that there
are two types of respect
• Decline in deference, common
courtesy
• Respect as a role model
• All respondents commented on a general
decline in behaviour
• Younger teachers found it harder to teach
teenagers
• All respondents had an older teacher as a
child
• Parental interference
• Age irrelevant as long as there is passion
