Importance of financial inclusion in India
• Objective – facilitate FINANCIAL INCLUSION through literacy and financial service to Marginal 
farmers & landless labor, Migrants, Urban slum dwellers, Self-employed, Unorganized industry, Women 
and old people) 
• Short term plan – 
o Educate masses - about management of money, importance of savings, advantages of saving with 
banks, benefits of borrowing from banks 
o Enable financial planning – to help people plan ahead of time for their life cycle needs and deal 
with unexpected emergencies without resorting to debt 
o Improve understanding of financial products – eg. Overdraft facility, recurring deposit, KCC, GCC, 
remittance facility 
o Liaise with banks to connect masses with formal financial system 
• Long term goal – 
o To make the workshop a mandatory aspect of school curriculums and make every individual in this 
country financially literate 
o To ensure each household has at least one bank account
• Reasons for starting 
o Team with many years of experience in the financial sector 
o ½ of India’s population do not have access to bank accounts & ¾ not covered by insurance 
o Financial inclusion leads to individual development, inclusive growth & promotes national growth 
o Realized the gap & hence floated NGO named GRASSroot Solutions 
• Our coverage 
o We have presence across Maharashtra, Rajasthan & Punjab 
o With over 50 workshops conducted targeting 4000+ people, we have received recognition from 27 
local panchayat heads, have been felicitated for our contribution in social sector by Mahavir 
international and have been covered in Rajasthan Patrika 
• Participation 
o NGO’s work for various causes eg. Child care, Women development, Human rights, Sanitation etc.
