1. BREAKING BREAD &
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
IN OUR COMMUNITY
Team 26924
Crash Course on Creativity, Stanford Online
Venture Lab Fall, 2012
Chandra, Jorg, Rehana, Joy & Volha
3. By a stroke of luck, despite the challenge of multiple
time zones, some connected and were able to start
formulating a plan…
4. Chandra painted a mural to share…
And they shared the notion of Amish Friendship
Bread…a living thing that is passed, nurtured, enjoyed
and passed again
5. WHY????
• BREAD is like people. There are all different kinds, but it exists
everywhere and is cross culturally valued.
• There is infinite value in bringing people together to put effort towards
the greater community in doing good works- feeding the body, mind &
soul.
• By using social network tools, we can connect with other people and
share ideas on community, charity and humanity.
6.
7. The team started their community outreach to
gather unity amongst people with cyber bread!!!
9. And they started sharing…people are like BREAD…many kinds all over the
world. People started “liking” BREAD and “connecting” with friends around
the world. In 3 days, BREAD made 21 connections and shared the notion of
ALL BREAD IS CREATED EQUAL!
10. And people started THINKING about the world
around us, how we treat others, and how just
one loaf can make a difference in the world!
11. 5 people around the world.
5 time zones.
9 hands on board to create- (1 broken).
6 days.
12. We found VALUE in sharing bread with 21 friends
across the globe by promoting good will and
treating ALL BREAD EQUALLY
13. Plus….(here comes the “VALUE ADD” and
everyone loves that!!!)
While chatting over BREAD and cheese last Saturday, a team mate
shared her class experience with a friend. By Sunday morning, her
friend had signed up for 2 classes thru www.coursera.org!
14. And….MORE VALUE ADD!!!! The BREAD
outreach that connects people inspired a team
mate to get involved in forming a neighborhood
crime watch committee in her community.
15. AND IT WAS ALL FREE! IT DIDN’T COST A PENNY!
THE VALUE WE FOUND:
*New friends around the world
*Humanitarian awareness that
all BREAD (people) is/are
created equal
*Recruiting new students to
coursera.org
*Crime prevention in our local
community
