SINTESIS DEL VERBO TOBE

JOHANA ARRUBLA

What is the verb "to be"? And what's more, why always start here?

The structures with the verb "to be" used to communicate several useful aspects such as "talk
about a person" (your name, nationality, where is your profession, how it feels, etc..) And
"describe characteristics of someone or something "(which is something, its color, to whom it
belongs, etc..).

This diversity of uses as important causes almost all English courses agendas begin with the verb
"to be". However, although the grammar is very important in itself, there are a variety of
vocabulary words related to the structures of the verb "to be" and have no sense of grammar
learned without their corresponding words. For example, what sense would know how to use the
verb "to be" to talk about the profession of someone if you do not know one most common
occupations at least? It would not do.

We must also pay special attention to the most common mistakes of the Spanish, usually related
interference with their own language. For example, in Castilian often use the verb "have" to say "I
have cold" while in English they say "I'm cold" (I am cold) and they say "not right" without using
the subject "it "while in English they say" This is not correct "(It's not right).

Generally, although the structure seems very easy at first, you have to practice over and over
again in all its facets (eg professions to talk, to say how you feel, negative, affirmative,
interrogative, with pertinent vocabulary, etc..) until it assimilates everything right.

Subject pronouns:

First, you have to know what certain words in Spanish equivalent which are called "subject
pronouns" I = I, thou = you, he = he, she = she, it = it, we = we, ye = you ( the same word for the
pronoun you) and they = they.

Video on Youtube. Exercises: To Be - translations (ICT Center. - SAN Tesifón CEIP), I, You, He, She,
It, etc.

The verb "to be" is often accompanied by the subject pronouns in Spanish while you do not need
the pronoun - "He is American" = "is American." This leads to wrong suelan students much at first,
saying things like "American is" or "is not American" (not American) when it should be "He's not
American" English.
