  • 1. CURE’s Misson To conquer childhood cancer through research, education and support of patients and their families

Services • Fund research into targeted therapies and cures • Provide crisis oriented support to children with cancer who live or are treated in Georgia – Aimed at addressing critical and urgent needs of patients and their families – Early Outreach – Personal in hospital support – Emergency financial assistance – Bereavement care – Survivorship education and support
  • 3. Proposed Use of Funds • FAMILY EMERGENCY FUND – Financial assistance for families of children with cancer – Aim is to stabilize families by easing some of the financial burdens caused by child’s diagnosis and ongoing treatment – Assistance leaves family better able to care for child – Last year, assistance provided to 203 families – This year’s budget: $115,000
  • 4. CURE Income • Budget: $1.9 million • Revenue sources – Special Events – Annual Campaign – Grants
  • 5. • 2003: $30,000 • 2005: $30,000 Previous • 2007: $40,000 Charity • 2008: $40,000 • 2009: $40,000 Guild • 09/10: major Awards grant recipient • All past grants dedicated to Family Emergency Fund
  • 6. Expenses • Program Services – $1,613,606 (85% of total expenses) • Management and General – $127,244 (7% of total expenses) • Fundraising – $159,510 (8% of total expenses)
  • 7. Key Strengths • Strategically focused outreach programs which result in measurable assistance to families in need • Strong collaborative partnerships with children’s hospitals • Scientific advisory council • Passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable Board of Directors and staff
  • 8. Challenges • The economy! – Challenging economic environment threatens existing revenue sources and poses a challenge to attracting new sources – Operating with limited resources – Raising funds to provide the ongoing support BOTH to the increasing number of families of children with cancer AND the increasing number of families who need financial assistance.
