Carers Week is an annual UK-wide awareness campaign that takes place from June 9th to 15th. The goal is to improve the lives of unpaid carers and those they care for by raising awareness of carers' issues. There are over 6.5 million carers in the UK, and 3 in 5 people will become a carer at some point in their lives. Carers provide unpaid support to ill, disabled, or frail family members and friends. The document discusses support organizations for carers and initiatives to better involve and support carers.

3. Carers Week is a UK-wide annual awareness campaign
which takes place from Monday 9th to Sunday 15th June
2014.
It's aim is to improve the lives of carers and the people they
care for.
It does this by raising awareness of carers at a national,
regional and local level.
Hundreds of organisations and individuals join in each year
to make it one of the UK's most successful awareness
campaigns.

5. There are over 6.5 million carers in the UK.
3 in 5 of us will become a carer at some point in
our life.
Carers provide unpaid care by looking after an
ill, frail or disabled family member, friend or
partner. Carers give so much to society yet, as a
consequence of caring, they experience ill
health, poverty and discrimination.
What is a
Carer?
Every day, 6000 people take on a new caring role in
the UK.

Carers
Initiative
We are working on a policy that will involve carers in both the treatment
and care of the patient.
We are looking to introduce a period of free parking whilst carers
are with us, in the Trust, helping us.
We will actively look, recognise and refer carers to organisations and
charities that can help.
They will be able to help with benefits, resources, training as well as
practical and emotional support.
