2. Title Sequence
Fade in from black along with the music
Sequence of photos with one letter appearing each time
Ends with speeded up video of cleaning board
We didn’t plan this but it links in really well with the education theme
Good way to quickly engage the audience: Y7-Y13 student
Not suitable for documentary because it isn’t serious enough and does not flow at well
as it should
Cross fades not used so title has more “punch”
3. Opening Sequence
Lots of candid shots used
throughout for audience
entertainment
Main focus on students rather
than Baiwan environment
No subtitles used because video
is already in chronological order
Also allows video to flow better
rather than divided up into
different sections
Cross fades are used because of
the soft music
4. Bus Montage
More candid photos of people
on the bus
Photos change on the beat of
the music
Shows music has been chosen
to fit with the music
6. In Baiwan
Passage of time highlighted by
dip to white
Photos and clips used are mainly
of children
Timed so students reach Baiwan
in the chorus
Clips are no more than 5 seconds
long to keep interest
Clips change after every line of
the music on the beat without
transitions
Keeps the video fast paced
7. Teaching
Shots here are
comparatively longer than
those of the Baiwan
environment
The videos in the
classrooms have more
panning so the size of the
rooms can be seen
Longer shots come in
when the music thins out
Creates a good flow
8. Transition
Continuing candid shots
Fade to black at end
Pause with no clips as music leads into chorus
Keeps the audience on their toes and makes
video more entertaining, also clearly marks the
video into different sections
9. Basketball Matches
Only have two angles of
basketball match
This was a disadvantage but we
only had one camera
Editing together two shots so it
looked like a shot went in
No cross fade used between the
clips, but sound was edited so
the difference wasn’t noticed
too much.
10. Basketball Matches (cont)
Slow motion shots of
dribbling/funny moments
Again keeps video entertaining
for the audience
Photo of “final score” fades in at
the end so it isn’t too sudden
Sets up for end of video
11. Final Scene
Montage of group photos
Cross fades in between in time with
music
Timed so video finishes at the end of
the chorus so it feels complete
Only inserted subtitle into the video
to thank the teachers involved
Font used (Poplar Std) isn’t formal so
appeals to younger demographic
Final photo was chosen because
there already is a large space available
underneath
