2. Research question:
• Why are the dangers of the equestrian sport minimized next to other sports?
• Thesis: The dangers of the equestrian sport are minimized next to other
sports because horseback riding is not very popular in the US. People don’t
know enough about the sport to know about the real dangers of it, and they
also don’t know how special the sport really is so it isn’t given enough
credit.

3. The point of my research question:
• I chose this research question because I want my audience to
understand the dangers of horseback riding. I want to educate
them about the sport, and show them how cool the sport can
be. I want to make horseback riding more popular so people
will understand how dangerous it is, and give horseback riders
more credit.

4. A study of the dangers:
• There was a study on horse related injuries. The study
reviewed patients with horse riding injuries between the
months of January-December (Sandiford).
• There were 155 patients admitted to hospitals with a total of
199 injuries (Sandiford).

5. The outcomes:
• 69% had soft tissues injuries, 24.5% had head injuries (which
are the worst and most deadly type of riding injury), 23.2%
had trunk (tail bone) injuries (Sandiford).
• “Patients who had head injuries suffered significantly more
injuries compared to other groups” (Sandiford).

7. • I chose to do a power point that focused mainly on the
dangers of horseback riding. There is so much more I
could go into, but since the power point had to be
short, I stuck to showing injuries that can happen in a
result from riding horses. I named the power point
“Horse-related injuries” because that was my overall
focus. I then went on to provide my research question,
and I provided a thesis. The thesis answered my
research question. I provided a slide that explained the
point of my research question (why I wanted to use this
research question). I then explained a study that was
conducted to prove the dangers. The slide after that I
provide the outcomes of injuries to prove just how
dangerous horseback riding is.
