2. Researching my audienceResearching my audience
I previously did a lot of research into the audience that other magazines aim their product
at. I did this through,
● Front cover, contents and article research.
● Survey Monkey questionnaire
● Interviews with Kerrang and Q readers
● Reader profiles

4. Interests of my audienceInterests of my audience
The people I researched (through product research, interviews and reader
profiles) were all laid back with their lifestyles.
All the people I researched said that they attended gigs and festivals in their
spare time, which is a fairly “masculine” thing to do, as it can be quite violent at
gigs. Also in general festivals can be unhygienic and its almost like “living rough”
for a weekend which is more of a masculine thing to do.
Therefore the audience of my magazine would be challenging the feminine
stereotypes of girls
5. Clothing/BrandsClothing/Brands
Although I didn't include it in my reader profile, I asked Seren (My reader) about her
clothes she was wearing, and also about other clothes she owned.
That day she was wearing.
- A pair of jeans passed down to her from her older sister
- A cheap plain white t shirt
- A vibrant jacket she bought from a charity shop in the city centre
Also I took note of what my interviewees were wearing, they had no obvious branded
clothes, and both looked very casual.
This tells me my audience wear what they feel happy in and what they like, my reader
interview tells me that my audience doesn't show much interest in branded and
expensive clothes.
