Should factual products contain bias?

The media have been known to publish bias articles or news. Whether it is good or
bad. This happens everyday and there will be people who will disagree with what the
writer has written. One topic that raises heated debates with everyone is about bias
homosexuality. This is an issue that many people will have for many reasons.
Firstly people who are against gay men and lesbians are people with religious
beliefs. Unlike gender, age, religious ethics, sexual orientation is not yet protected
such as how racism has been tackled. In 1969 stonewall riots of gays in Greenwich
Village the main goal they wanted to achieve was to tackle discrimination for gays
and lesbians in employment, housing, and elsewhere. Too often homosexuals will be
discriminated regards to what the civil rights states. As it’s an on going debate
whether or not it should be acceptable. During employment gays and lesbians will
sometimes be deadly abused violently purely because of their sexuality.

Here is an example of a children’s book called 2in out Mothers’ house” it is based on
a family which both parents are of the same sex. This booked was written in 2009,

2. author, Patricia Polacco was chosen by librarians to be acceptable for children to
read as there are some children that have grown up in same sex families and are
aware of the situation. However this is raised huge debate and parents did not want
their children reading a book based on two mothers living together. Even in 2011
this booked still faced fire he American Civil Liberties Union of Texas the book has
ben banned in several states in the states.
None biased
This raises questions for people who are for homosexuality and therefore they
believe that should ban a book as it is not legally offensive or profine. By banning the
book from children this meant that people who do not having problem with the issue
and in letting the children read the book do not really have a say as such. This is the
point where it created tension between the two raising questions such as why have
they banned it? And also it shows that they are discriminating against people who
are of the same sex.
On the other hand however, some news papers will still publish none bias articles
about homosexuality, such as gay magazine which is a major publication which
therefore has not been banned! The magazine will publish many famous males on
the front cover. I believe this has been done so that people who are strongly against
it might see that they are the same as everyone else. The fact that this magazine is
legal is because to avoid discrimination.
Here is an example of Gay Times magazine,
a publication that is aimed for gays. They will
often use celebrities such as they have here
of a singer based in the UK Shayne Ward.
This does not mean that the magazine only
accepts gay men to model but also who are
none gay and are for. This shows that the
media is bot being biased on the topic and is
showing the other side of the public that they
can be acceptable and they are human
beings too and they can be proud of who they
are by expressing it either in a magazine as
they have done here.
In the magazines it does not only feature
topics just based on gays. The article
features other topics as any regular magazine
would. Again as they have used celebrities
mostly who are none homosexual it makes this publication unbiased, even though it
is based on gays as the name of the publication uses the word “gay”.

3. This magazine proves that everyone has an equal right whether it is based on their
sexuality. This allows them to have the freedom as other magazines out there that
people will accept such as female magazines that would be targeted at men that do
not raise discrimination such as towards sexuality.
Over all, in my opinion I have two arguments that I personally feel towards this
matter. Such as I have religious beliefs and they have a strong view point that sexual
orientated people can not be accepted into have a church wedding. As I am a
modern Christian I believe that homosexuals should have the freedom to be
themselves not have the fear of people judging them based on their sexuality. I also
disagree that the book about “living in our mothers house” is banned is several
states. I think that children should be brought up realistically rather than a lie as they
should grow up to make their own decisions rather than classing homosexuals as
wrong. As some has mentioned the book is not offensive or profine? So therefore
why have the banned it if to does not harm a child in anyway.
Another example is that how this topic is only acceptable to those who are adults,
such as Gay magazine is targeted at adults. I believe that this is wrong and that
allowing children’s books to have child friendly booked about gays and lesbians such
as the regular books they have with heterosexual families. Why is that acceptable?
Why can’t the same sex family be allowed to be read by minors? This also makes
me think that children later in life will have a different view of the subject as it will look
extraordinary to them when in fact they should be taught and explained to them so
therefore in life it will be a normal thing too.
However on the other hand some might argue that being homosexuals is and
environmental rather than something you are born in. People with religious beliefs
will argue that the life cycle started between a man and a women as they have come
together to reproduce therefore they have a purpose. As at the same sex can not
reproduce, they state a fact that it is something that is inherited and therefore it is by
chose. I think by having biased articles this not giving the reader the freedom of
chosen to make their own judgement and leave the gate open to peoples choices.
