❑ Crisis
centre
opened
in
Sikkim
to
prevent
suicide
On
account
of
the
increasing
suicide
rate
prevailing
in
Sikkim,
a
24x7
crisis
centre-­‐cum-­‐suicide
prevention
assistance
mechanism
was
launched
by
the
state
government
at
STNM
Hospital.
Under
the
initiative
of
District
Mental
Programme,
this
crisis
centre
was
formed
by
the
combined
efforts
of
the
departments
of
human
services,
health
and
family
welfare.
The
STNM
Hospital,
along
with
the
health
department
has
taken
the
approach
of
starting
a
special
clinic
for
patients
who
are
being
treated
for
depression.
Besides
offering
services,
the
clinic
also
aims
at
eliminating
the
taboo
attached
to
treating
mental
illness.
A
pledge
on
elimination
of
drug
abuse
and
tobacco
was
also
administered.

eye
care
campaign
to
be
hosted
by
Maharashtra
government
The
child
eye
care
campaign
to
be
hosted
by
the
Maharashtra
government
will
concentrate
on
offering
protection
to
the
vision
of
school
children
by
means
of
awareness
campaigns
and
free
eye
checkups.
The
project
would
be
in
motion
for
three
months
in
Vashi.
About
60,000
students
would
be
examined
by
ophthalmologists
who
are
attached
to
Advanced
Eye
Hospital
and
Institute.
One
Vision
Health
and
Research
Foundation
will
also
assist
the
campaign.
According
to
this
drive,
every
single
child
would
be
entitled
to
the
right
to
perfect
vision
which
would
be
facilitated
by
timely
detection
and
treatment.

in
the

of

government.
The
objective
was

bring

service.

of
BDS
or
MBBS
qualified
doctors
having
6
years’
experience
has
been
raised
from

per
month
to

per
month;
while
that
of
those
having
6
to
13
years’
experience
has
been
increased
from

to
INR
68,620
per
month.
Doctors
who
have
13
to
20
years’
experience
would
enjoy
a
hike
from

Those
having
20
years
of
experience
or
more
would
receive
a
hike
from

to

Doctors
with
either
post
graduate
diploma
or
degree,
along
with
an
experience
of

years,
would

Super
specialty
doctors
with

and

❑ Indian
war
on
tuberculosis
hit
by
cut
in
healthcare
budget
As
a
result
of
cut
in
healthcare
budget
by
the
union
government,
the
Tuberculosis
Control
Programme
is
being
confronted
by
tough
challenges.
This
could
adversely
affect
medicine
supply,
thereby
leading
to
insufficient
diagnostic
services
for
patients.
Insufficient
availability
of

kits

exhaustion

tuberculosis
medicines
have

cancer

Dasatinib
upheld
by
Delhi
High
Court
The
Delhi
High
Court
has
upheld
the
patent
of
US-­‐based
Bristol
Myers
Squibs
(BMS)
for
Dasatinib
dashing
the
hopes
of
a
local
company
to
sell
a
generic
version
of
the
cancer
drug.
This
local
company
voiced
an
argument
which
stated
that
the
price
charged
by
BMS
was
remarkably
high
and
was
against
public
interest.
Dasatinib
is
used
for
treating
chronic
myeloid
leukaemia.
❑ Lee
Pharma
seeks
license
for
diabetes
drug
of
AstraZeneca
Lee
Pharma
has
sought
permission
from
the
patent
office
to
manufacture
a
diabetes
drug
known
as
saxagliptin,
which
is
a
patent
of
AstraZeneca.
The
application
was
filed
by
Lee
Pharma
on
June
29,
2015
for
creating
a
generic
version
of
the
drug,
marketed
as
Onglyza.
Lee
Pharma
plans
to
price
saxagliptin
2.5
mg
per
unit
at
Rs
27,
as
against
Rs
43.21
per
unit
of
Astra
Zeneca's
Onglyza,
while
the
5
mg
version
cost
per
unit
will
be
Rs
29,
as
against
the
Astra
Zeneca's
price
of
Rs
41.50.

competition
result
declared
The
result
of
India
StartHealth
competition
was
declared
by
Unitus
Seed
Fund.
OmiX
Labs
is
the
winner
for
a
hand-­‐held
portable
device
for
vector-­‐borne
infection
diagnosis
and
prognosis.
The
equipment
could
be
utilized
by
over
1
lakh
laboratories
across
India.
Besides
an
amount
of
INR
10
lakhs,
OmiX
would
be
rewarded
with
a
chance
to
pitch
for
taking
part
in
the
StartHealth
investment
programme
of
Unitus.
The
runner
up
was
xBiTS
for
its
table-­‐top

for
