  in-the-Classroom.aspx

 It is a field trip in the mountains and students are using
their handhelds to do a variety of activities.
Scenario One
Three high school students are making their way along a
rocky ridge, surveying plant and animal life as they go.
One student snaps a photo of a flowering plant, geotags it
and sends it to the group blog. His partner records a high-
definition video of a spider preparing its web and uploads
it to YouTube. The third student is typing notes on a wiki.

Lets do it?

Collaboration
 There are many apps that are designed for
  collaboration.

Editor's Notes

  1. Studies show that most students have the technology in their pockets. Even in the wrong end of town students have the minumem level of technology. They may not have smartphones but they will have texting ability. Saturation is at or near 98%We know that using technology is using the motivationa factor to engage the students. It is not the same old thing, or not yet.

  3. We will use two sites today. The wiki site that has the links and details of the presentation and the blog site that we will use for uploading and sharinghte contents and activities.
  4. We all know how fast students can send texts, so use their skill to update blogs and wikis. Most blogs allow posts by email. The demo blog for this session accpets email to glogan.banff@blogger.com
  5. Most hand helds will allow you to take and email or text photos. This can be a great way of recording information on the filed trip. Blogger allows you to send instant updates via email. Our sample blog id is glogan@banff@blogger.com
  6. The scenario has a student get hurt and sends a text message with his location. Google Maps has this function.
  7. The scenario has a student get hurt and sends a text message with his location. Google Maps has this function. If you use a group messaging system like remind 101. Students send a text or email to a course location and you can send a text via a web browser to every student.
