Micromeritics - Fundamental and Derived Properties of Powders
Provide a thorough analysis of the use of on screen text
1. Provide a thorough
analysis of the use of on
screen text in three
different trailers
2. The use of on screen text on this trailer is minimal but it provides
information on who produced the film which is important because the
audience who have knowledge of the institution behind the film know
what it is going to be like.
The improvements that I think could have been made would be to
add more texts to the trailer to show to present in a well and
standard form.
If more text was used rather than just the title of the film it could
give more detail on the plot of the film. Although this can be used as
an advantage because it makes the audience want to find out more
by actually going to watch the film in cinema.
The text used at 0:43 in the trailer sticks to the convention of the
thriller drama because the text is white and the background is black
so it is plain and simple but it is also shows the audience who
directed the film.
Shutter Island trailer
3. Horns uses a range of text to provide the audience with the knowledge of what role
Daniel Radcliffe is playing.
The on screen text tells you that it is based on a best selling novel this is used to tell
the audience that because it is based off a novel it will be from the creation a author
which might make people buy the book.
At 1:14 it is shown a text showing a review on how this is one of Daniel Radcliffe’s
best performance as a actor. This piece of text makes the audience even more
intrigued to see the film because of his other films that have been popular.
The on screen text used in this trailer is used to provide information on the main
actors performance in the film rather than the details of the film itself.
The purpose and effect of using on screen text to talk about the actors performance
in the film is used in my opinion to give the audience a sense of knowledge which I
think is done very well. The font of the text is in black with a red background so this
describes the thriller genre in good detail.
It describes the thriller genre in good detail because it gives off the sense of terror
and thrill and a twist to how Daniel Radcliffe’s performance in this film will be like.
Horns trailer
4. The text used is shown at 0:37 in the trailer of Dracula is used to
show that the film is coming out this year
At 0:45 the text is used to a good standard because it gives out
information on how he becomes a legend. This works alongside
the image shown because it shows a lot of action clips after this
text is shown to show how he has become a legend.
Through analysing the trailer I think that more on screen text
could have been used to explain the plot in a more standard way
rather than telling the audience he will become a legend.
The trailer could have been improved if the text had more
attention to the moving clips instead of it just being random
information.
