24.2 - South Asia Climate and Vegetation - Presentation Transcript

    1. South Asia: Climate and Vegetation
    2.
      • Monsoons
      • The monsoons are seasonal winds that change direction.
      • The summer monsoon brings in moisture from the Indian Ocean and produces a tremendous amount of rain. The moisture from winter monsoons are largely blocked by the Himalayas.
      • The summer monsoon rains can cause flooding and all sorts of hardship.
      • Still, though, the monsoon is welcomed because it relieves the heat of June’s heat and the agricultural industry is highly dependent on the rains.
        • 80% of India’s rain comes during the monsoon season, which last from June to September.
    3.
      • Cyclones
      • Cyclones are hurricanes that happen in this area. They can cause a great deal of damage.
