How does your media product represent particular social
1. How does your media product
represent a particular social
group?
2. My Main Image
• I felt in this image my prop was most important,
this is to signifying the rebellious punk attitudes.
• I encouraged my model to wear a tight hat, I felt
this gave my model more of a punk appearance.
• During my research I found out that punks like to
wear extravagant make up, this gave me the idea
for my model to wear dark black eye shadow to
create the sub genre and for the target audience to
understand the way in which her fashion is similar
to theirs.
• I placed my model against an old wall; During my
research I found out that punks placed themselves
in random houses.
• I felt this gave off the impression of the way in
which punks live. This also attracts the target
audience as they can relate to this photo.
3. Contents page image
I decided to edit my contents page as
I felt the page needed to be attractive
and simple as not all punks are into
reading. (Some were homeless and
lacked a good education).
I have included a punkish theme in
order to attract my target audience to
the contents page itself.
I decided to create a close up as I felt
this helps the page stand out, and be
appealing to look at.
Punks can be very serious and
intimidating, I felt my model needed
to have a serious face in order to
create the sub genre punk.
I‟ve created an electric shock down
the middle of my image as I felt it
gave electricity to my punk music
theme.
4. How does my project match my
target audience?
I researched into the punk sub-culture and realised they had their
own individual style, they seemed very unique and had there own
way of “living life”, They want to make a statement to the world;
„Hey look! we‟re different‟.
I made sure throughout my 3 project tasks that I added bright
creative colours. As punks have a personality of being brightly
made up, their hair for example is created in wild garish styles and
colours.
I watched a YouTube clip which showed the way in which punks
lived, it seemed very like they enjoyed living life regardless of how
much money they had.
This helped me create the tag line “ You need to live life”; I felt this
would appeal to my target audience and they would be able to
relate to it.
On the double page spread I made sure the images looked
rebellious for example “ the middle finger pose” I felt this pose
created the punk attitudes to life.
I made sure through each of my tasks I included bold headlines! I
did this through putting borders around certain headlines to create
the punk genre.
5. How is my magazine different?
• Punks could be seen by the image they portray
as rebellious and intimidating but in fact it could
be argued the punk genre is only about putting
across their identity
• It does not mean they are violent and cruel it
could just be about expression.
• I decided to create photos which are not as
explicit or extravagant as other punk magazines,
I want to get across the way in which punks are
exaggerating an identity which there trying to
portray.
• Using photos which are more down to earth
creates a different appeal to who punks are,
which may create a different audience to be
interested in there sub-culture.
• Even though I have a set target audience I feel
my magazine will target other audiences in order
to understand who punks are as people and
where they are coming from.
