  • 7. WHAT NEW TOOLS OR TECHNIQUES ARE SEISMOLOGISTS USING TO HELP THEM BETTER PREDICT EARTHQUAKES ?
    • Seismologists have come up with the idea of using satellites to forecast earthquakes from space.
  • 8. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT EARTHQUAKES AND EARTHQUAKE PREDICTION?
    • I have learned earthquakes are very unexpected to humans, but it is gradually building up under Earth’s surface. Seismologists are working very hard to make their ideas for predicting earthquakes a reality, but it is a very difficult task.
  • 9. WHAT FACTORS INFLUENCE EARTHQUAKE PREDICTION?
    • One factor that influences earthquake prediction is stresses in the Earth’s crust because if they get too high an earthquake could arise. Another factor is infrared radiation, if this is released it will cause an earthquake.
  • 10. WHERE ON EARTH DO MOST OF THE REALLY BIG EARTHQUAKES STRIKE?
    • Most earthquakes strike at the edge of plates. This is because along the edge of the plates, many faults are found.
