1. Question 7Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full prod
2. Research and planning My research and planning skills have improved significantly from my prelim to my final product. I went through only 3 steps for my prelim magazine, these were looking at a range of magazine covers to consider layout, then producing flat plans of what I wanted my magazine to look like, then producing my final product. Where as for my final product I went through various stages of research in order to make my magazine as professional and appropriate as possible. This did include things such as flat plans, however when researching other magazines I researched magazines only in my genre. And considered things such as layout and curning and leading. Comparing the two flat plans it is clear to see which is more successful and planned. When planning my prelim I did not plan things such as costume. I also did not look into the connotations and usage of certain colours and fonts within my genre.
3. Research and planning I did not research my fonts for my prelim, unlike my final product in which I researched a range of fonts and colours that were used on similar magazines. I took into consideration the gender of my audience, as well as age and background. Apart from the obvious I did not to much of this for my prelim. I did this through researching demographics of other magazines. I also did focus groups researching primary, in order to find out what audiences find appealing in order to put them in my final product.
4. Research and planning I researched into costume and make up for inspiration for my models for my final product, I also logged all of this in my blog in order to explain my ideas and research. This helped me in appealing to my audience.
5. Unlike my prelim, my final product required me to do a recce of location and model call sheets. These helped me develop my organizational skills. Although my organizational skills were also helped with constant feedback and assessments of what I need to do Research and planning
6. Construction You can see clearly when I compare my two front covers (final product and prelim) that I have developed my skills in using both software and hardware. My photoshop skills have developed from being able to use simple text tools to being able to enhance photographs and do various effects on text. I also used guidelines in order to make the curning and leading like that on professional magazines. My skills on in design have also developed dramatically I am able to edit my texts and columns to look more proffesional. I have also placed images at angles and in a range of places unlike my prelim.
