  • 5. STRATEGIES TO EMPLOY FOR OPTIMIZATION  Keywords  Complete Profile  Catchy Headlines  Endorsements & Recommendations  Networking  Fresh Content

INCLUDE KEYWORDS  LinkedIn Search Algorithm (Relevance) likes profiles that have keywords placed in strategic areas (Name, Headlines, Job Title & Skills).  Search LinkedIn for key words & terms that are relevant in your industry. If your profile, does not come up the 1st page of the search, you need to update your keywords. COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE  More than half of LinkedIn users do not have a completed profile.  Linkedin’s algorithm sorts by 1st > 2nd > 3rd level connections, shared group members, & then everyone else…with profiles that are complete ranking higher on every level.  Having an incomplete profile makes it more difficult for potential employers, partners, or clients to gauge your overall value. REQUEST ENDORSEMENTS & RECOMMENDATIONS  The power of 3rd party endorsements are undeniable.  Endorsements are like Facebook’s like system or Google Plus’s +1—a single click show a form of approval. ‘  Recommendations are customized to the individuals business or professional credentials & they have much more impact of on your credibility.  Personally request recommendations from coworkers, clients, & business partners.
  • 10. NETWORK! NETWORK! NETWORK!  Attend events in your industry both online & in-person. Share your LinkedIn profile information with other attendees.  Network with people outside the vertical you work in. There can be tertiary benefits &/or new doors can open for you.  Networking is not a one-way street. Both parties are seeking benefits from the relationship. Give & you will receive.

HOW TO MEASURE IF ALL YOUR WORK PAID OFF  Numbers don’t lie—analyze how followers you have, who has viewed your profile, what updates you have posted have been engaged with & by who, & so much for right from LinkedIn.  Using third-party apps such as bit.ly or Buffer App, you can gauge how other people are engaging with your activity updates.  Adjust both content on your profile & what you post to your activity feed based off from the metrics.
