Salt & Composition: Each Hard Gelatin Capsule Contains: Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP eq. to Amoxicillin 250mg,
Dicloxacillin sodium BP eq. to Dicloxacillin 250mg.
Mode of Actions: combination of two beta-lactam antibiotics, amoxycillin and dicloxacillin. They exert their
bactericidal action by inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Amoxycillin is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and
Gram-negative pathogens, and dicloxacillin acts against penicillinase producing Gram-positive pathogens.
Drug Class and Mechanism: Both Amoxycillin and Dicloxacillin are penicillin class antibiotics used to treat bacterial
infections. It is a combination of two beta-lactam antibiotics, amoxycillin and dicloxacillin. They exert their bactericidal
action by inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Amoxycillin is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-
negative pathogens, and dicloxacillin acts against penicillinase producing Gram-positive pathogens.
Prescribed For: many different types of infections caused by bacteria such as bronchitis, pneumonia, or staphylococcal
infections.
Mode of use: Drink plenty of fluids while using this medication unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Your doctor
may want to take special care or adjust your dose if you have any of the following conditions stomach problems such
as feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, indigestion, problems with food absorption; liver problems; kidney problems or
cystic fibrosis
Dosage: As directed by the physician. Take the capsule on empty stomach so that more medicine is absorbed by the
body. For best result take it at the same time each day. The actual dose may vary from person to person. For most
infections, the usual dose for adults and children over 12 years is 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours.
In case of a missed dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose,
skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Interaction: Tetracycline, a bacteriostatic antibiotic, may antagonize the bactericidal effect of penicillin and concurrent
use of these drugs should be avoided. Do not use this medicine if you have had a severe allergic reaction to penicillin
or cephalosporin class of antibiotics. Before using this medication, tell your doctor about all the active medicines or
herbal products you use, especially Anticoagulants, probenecid, allopurinol, methotrexate, tetracyclines or
birthcontrol pills. Amoxicillin may cause false positive results in certain lab tests in case of diabetics. Do not share this
medication with others specially those whom it is not prescribed for. Do not take any additional medications such as
antacids laxatives or vitamins without the physician’s prior approval.
Side effects: nausea, vomiting, mild diarrhea, heartburn, or gas may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen,
notify your doctor promptly. Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience itching, skin rash, vaginal
irritation or discharge. Contact your doctor right away if stomach pain or cramps, severe diarrhea, or bloody stools
occur. Some of the symptoms of an allergic reaction may include skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, mouth,
throat or other parts of the body, shortness of breath, wheezing or troubled breathing.
