  • Get Familiar via Mascots! Artwork by the Team of the C.E.I.P. CARDENAL CISNEROS.
  • Summary. This is our students’ ideas about their country even topics related with what every foreing country we think think about us.
  • San Fermines.  In the 14th century Spain, some merchants tried to speed up the selling process of the bulls (Toros) by running in front of them.  This became popular and turned out to be a sport, as young learners started to race in front of a group of bulls.  From these days, this event is known as the Running of the Bulls. The most famous running takes place in Pamplona.
  • Olympic Dream (I).  Cobi was the official mascot of the Summer Olympics of Barcelona held in 1992.  It is created by Javier Mariscal and inspired from the interpretations of Picasso.  Before, during and after the Olympic Games, Cobi was very popular, it even had its own TV series, The Cobi Troupe.
  • Olympic Dream (II).  Madrid is an applicant for the Olympic Games to be held in 2020 like in 2012 and 2016, we hope this time we will success.  Spain will also host 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and Madrid will be one of the host cities for the event.
  • Tio Pepe.  Tio Pepe is the most selling brand of Sherry, a famous drink made from the palomino grape and has an iconic add in the Puerta del Sol.  It’s an icon for many people who live in Madrid and tourists from all over the world come to see it.  Also Apple is interested in open one of its shops in the building which supports that electronic add.  It is like the TDK add in Picadilly Circus.
  • Chupa Chups.  Chupa Chups is the company that invented “lollipops”.  One day the founder, Enric Bernat heard a mother getting angry at her child because of the fact that the candy in his hand just melted.  He realized that candies are not manufactured correctly and came with the idea of putting a wooden stick inside the candy; then these sticks became plastic.  As you know, there are lollipops everywhere in the world right now.
  • Flamenco.  Flamenco is a genre of Spanish music, song and dance from Andalusia, including singing (cante), playing guitar (toque), dancing (bailes) and hand- clapping (palmas).  First mentioned in the history in 1774, Flamenco genre is very popular in all over the world, for example, in Japan there are more academies than there are in Spain.
  • The Guggenheim.  The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum of modern art, designed by architect Frank Gehry.  It was opened by Juan Carlos, the king of Spain in October 18, 1997.  The museum building and the Puppy you see in the picture is considered among the most important completed works in the world.
  • The Guernica.  This Guernica painting was made by one of the most famous artists in the world, Pablo Picasso.  It has an important status reminding the world of the tragedies of war. Picasso created the painting after the Guernica Village in the northern Spain was bombed by the German forces during the Spanish Civil War. .  The painting is 3.5 meters tall and 7.8 meters wide and you can visit it in Reina Sofía ’s Museum in Madrid.
  • The Letter Ñ.  This is very characteristical phonic letter in Spanish and there are some other countries with different graphics but same pronounciation.  Many times it is used as an identity logo above all in sports.  Actually it has been used for joking about NBA in USA telling that this is our own NBA saying ÑBA instead.
  • As you can see this is the main entrance in our school.
