4. iPads for Teachers
Expectations
1. Device is to be at school every day
2. Positively impact instruction and learning
3. Attend professional development (orientation and follow‐up sessions)
4. Complete the district goal for iPad integration between orientation and
follow‐up session
5. Children of teachers are not allowed to use the device due to privacy issues
with district email

Go to Setting>Wifi
Select misd‐staff For security purposes the Midway
Enter your network username and password itunes account should be logged in on
the iPad when the device is at school.
iTunes Account Info:
iTunes login name ‐
iTunes Password – this is a SECURE password – do not share with anyone
A personal itunes account may be added to the iPad. Any apps installed from a personal
itunes account should be appropriate for use in a school setting.
Goals:
To be completed before the next training session –
1. Install the MISD iPad Standard 20 Apps
2. Redeem and install the 4 paid apps (GoodReader, Pages, Keynote, and iMovie)
3. Install 2 additional apps you can use in the classroom to positively impact
instruction. Be ready to share how you used the app or would use the app with your
students.
Restrictions Info:
If a device is used with students, Restrictions must be ON.
Go to Settings > General > Restrictions
In the Allowed Content section:
o Movies – PG
o TV Shows – PG
In the Allow Changes section:
Accounts – No changes allowed

5. Navigating the iPad
iPad Operation Terminology
Swipe – Use one finger to tap and slide through the screens. You can
swipe the screens forward or backward.
Tap ‐ Use a one finger touch to open apps, photos, email, and many other
things. You can double tap to access certain menus or to zoom in or out
of web pages, maps, and email.
Scroll ‐ Use one finger to drag up or down to scroll. On some screens, you
can also scroll side to side. You can flick to scroll quickly. Tap anywhere
to stop screen.
Pinch ‐ Place two fingers on a webpage, email, photo, and some apps and
then pinch 2 fingers together to zoom out and 2 fingers apart to zoom in.

To move through the screens
Swipe forward or backward with one finger
To search for an app
Go to the Home Screen
Back swipe one time
Start typing the name of the app until it appears
Tap on the name of the app that you want
To locate the Multi‐task Bar
Double tap the Home button (quickly) to bring up the bar
All of the apps you have running will appear
If you swipe your finger from right to left, more apps will be shown
To get out of an app
Press the Home button one time
To close an app
Double tap to open the Multi task bar
Select any APP in the Multi task bar, and hold down until a red circle with a
dash appears
Tap the red circle of any app that you want closed
To move an app
Hold your finger on any icon for a few seconds
All the apps will jiggle
Drag them around to rearrange
To move them to another page, drag the icon to the edge of the current screen
Press the Home button to stop the icons from jiggling

7. To delete an app
Hold your finger on any icon for a few seconds
They will start to jiggle
The little cross in the corner of the app allows you to delete them
Press the Home button to stop the icons from jiggling
To take a screen shot
Press the power and Home button at the exact same time
The screen will flash so you know that it worked
Go to the camera roll to see your screen shot
To copy an image to your camera roll
Lightly hold your finger on the picture for a few seconds
A menu will appear and you will select SAVE IMAGE
To delete a picture
Tap the Photos app
Select Edit
Tap the pictures you want to delete
A blue check will appear
Select the red delete button
Select the larger red delete photo icon
How to set up an album
Go to photos
Tap the Album buttons
Tab the plus button
Name your photo album
Select pictures from your camera roll that you want added to your album
Note: Deleting a photo from an album will not delete it from the camera roll,
but deleting from the Camera roll will delete it from the album
To set up your wall paper and lock screen
Tap photo app
Tap the photo you want to use
On the top right corner, tap the rectangle
Tap Use as Wallpaper
On the top right corner, make your selection

9. Set Up an Email Account on an iPad
1. Open Settings.
2. On the left, choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3. On the right in the Accounts section, choose Add Account > Microsoft
Exchange.
4. Enter the complete Email address (fn.ln@midwayisd.org).
5. Enter the Password (same as computer login). Choose Next.
6. In the Server box, type webmail.midwayisd.org.
7. In the Domain, type misd.
8. In the Username box, type firstname.lastname.
9. Next > Done.

10. Purchasing iTunes Applications
Accessing the form
1. Login to eduphoria
2. Select Formspace
3. Click Submit New Form (bottom left corner)
4. Click Technology
5. Click itunes app purchase
Completing the form
Enter information for the following items
1. Last Name
2. First Name
3. Your Campus
4. Your Position
5. Your Midway ISD iTunes username
A Midway ISD iTunes account is required to purchase apps with district funds.
6. Follow the directions on the form to enter the application link, application name, the cost of 1
license, and number of copies for the application(s) you will purchase. Up to 5 applications
may be requested on a form.
7. Provide a brief explanation for how this application will support your professional
responsibilities or impact learning in the Curriculum Correlation or Justification field.
8. If the apps are purchased with grant funds, enter “Education Foundation Grant” in the
Curriculum Correlation or Justification field.
8. Click Submit Form (top of form)
The form will be sent to the campus/department staff member responsible for the budget. Email
this person with the total cost of the apps and the budget code to use. This staff member will
review the form, enter a budget code, and approve the request.
