2014 IPv6 Summit in Taipei and 23rd TWNIC IP OPM
 Held on 4-6, Nov, 2014.
 The conference gathered government officials and
enterprise to share their experiences and challenges
transferring from IPv4 to IPv6. The event not only
gathers the latest trends and developments about
the internet, but also creates the best platform for
experts in the industry, academia and government
to exchange ideas and foster consensus.
10
2014 IPv6 Summit in Taipei and 23rd TWNIC IP
OPM
 The opening remarks by Taiwan’s Vice Premier,
and the Paul Wilson(APNIC), and prof. Esaki
(WIDE) give us the keynote speeches.
11
2014 IPv6 Multimedia Contest
 The IPv6 Multimedia Contest encouraged
contestants to promote IPv6 upgrade in
creative short films.
 More than 130 contestants and 8 winners.

IPv6 Virtual Lab
 In order to promote IPv6 hands-on learning, we provide IPv6 virtual lab.
 Some on-line hands-on experiments for the training are implemented,
such as the operating systems, e.g. Linux CentOS,Windows 2008, and
Windows 2012, and the corresponding DNS Server, and Web Server
thereon to enable IPv6.
 Students remotely login the hands-on learning virtual machine through the
IPv4 network and operate the online experiment.

Service status in
Taiwan

Taiwan Government’s Initiative to Deploy
IPv6
 Taiwan government announced IPv6 Upgrade
and Promotion Program (IPv6 UP) and approved
on December 30, 2011 by Executive Yuan,
Taiwan.
 Goal
 Upgrade the 50% of public network services (Web,
DNS, Email) to be IPv4/IPv6 dual stack enabled on
2013
 Finished
 Upgrade all of the public network services to be
IPv4/IPv6 dual stack on 2015
16
Upgraded External Network Services
 4,823 services need to be upgraded to IPv6 in
governmental agencies.
 Till Feb 2015, 4,322 (89.6%)services had been
completed. We Also monitor IPv6 reachable ratio of
these services. Now, 81.1% services had IPv6 reachable
17
Conclusion & future work
 All of Government’s external services will be
upgraded to IPv6 in 2015, we hope promote IPv6
to ISP.
 Now, few Taiwan’s ISPs provide IPv6 access
services, more other ISPs plan and implement to
provide IPv6 services.
 For the promote IPv6, we will continuously use
IPv6 training course, IPv6 virtual lab, activities to
promote IPv6, and will use IPv6 moocs, IPv6 films
to promote it in this year.

  • 16. Taiwan Government’s Initiative to Deploy IPv6  Taiwan government announced IPv6 Upgrade and Promotion Program (IPv6 UP) and approved on December 30, 2011 by Executive Yuan, Taiwan.  Goal  Upgrade the 50% of public network services (Web, DNS, Email) to be IPv4/IPv6 dual stack enabled on 2013  Finished  Upgrade all of the public network services to be IPv4/IPv6 dual stack on 2015 16
  • 17. Upgraded External Network Services  4,823 services need to be upgraded to IPv6 in governmental agencies.  Till Feb 2015, 4,322 (89.6%)services had been completed. We Also monitor IPv6 reachable ratio of these services. Now, 81.1% services had IPv6 reachable 17
  • 18. Conclusion & future work  All of Government’s external services will be upgraded to IPv6 in 2015, we hope promote IPv6 to ISP.  Now, few Taiwan’s ISPs provide IPv6 access services, more other ISPs plan and implement to provide IPv6 services.  For the promote IPv6, we will continuously use IPv6 training course, IPv6 virtual lab, activities to promote IPv6, and will use IPv6 moocs, IPv6 films to promote it in this year. 18
