quality clothing and accessories with a Christ-centered message.
Recently, I spoke with him and asked burning questions I had such as “Who designs your amazing gear, “
and “How does a clothing company’s ethos change from chasing money to chasing Messiah?"
The Underground: When, how, who and where did you guys get started? Why a Christian
clothing line?
Scotty: The line actually started in 2003. It started as a result of my brother’s death. I made T-
shirts as a way of coping with the loss. M.O.E. came from my brother whose nickname
was MOE. It wasn’t until 2006 that I decided to turn the RIP tees into a clothing line. When I
decided to start the line, MOE stood for the secular acronym money over everything. It wasn't
until I received salvation and God breathed on it that it became Messiah Over Everything.

The company name, Moetivs, came during prayer time one morning when the Lord instructed
me to name the brand Moetivs. He confirmed the message of MOE by taking me to Romans 9:5
which says, “For the Messiah is God over everything forever blessed. Amen.”
The Underground: How would you describe the look/styling associated with your brand? What
type of person would look best in your gear?
Scotty: Our brand is urban, but classy and geared toward extreme comfort as we use some of
the finest garments available in the industry. Our clothing is geared to all--both young and old.
We have MOE Young'ns, which is our children's line. We also have Moe4Her for the women
and Moe4Him for men. We also recent launched our proMOE wear which is
professional MOE that consist of polos/button ups. We strive to provide our clients with gear
they can wear in any setting i.e. the work place/school/mall/etc.
The Underground: Your designs are amazing. Who is responsible? Is there one designer? A
team? Where do you get inspiration from for your designs?

Scotty: I actually design the logo myself and sent off to get vectored. My wife and I are the
designers, but my wife plays an even greater role in choosing what garment will look best with
designs.
The Underground: What’s the message you are trying to send with your apparel and
accessories?
Scotty: Our mission is to affect society and culture through our influence in the clothing industry.
The message we are trying to send through the MOE Movement is for it to serve as a daily
reminder to keep God first! It’s applying and living M.O.E. -- Messiah Over Everything. In any
and every thing you do, check your Moetivs behind it. Be sure you're not doing it to please the
lust and desires of your flesh, but rather to glorify Gods kingdom.
The Underground: How has business been? Bad? Good? Excellent? Has being in the Christian
clothing industry been easy or difficult? Why?
Scotty: Business has been good. Being in the Christian clothing industry has been easy but
difficult at the same time because even though we are faith-based we are marketing ourselves
to the masses. Think about it this way--The brand True Religion’s logo primary logo is the
Buddha, but believers and nonbelievers wear it. We want the same thing for Moetivs. We want
people to wear it because of the message as well as the style and comfort.
The Underground: Where can people find your brand?
Scotty: Our clothing can be found online at our website www.moetivsclothing.com.
