Gospel Boot Camp part 3 (Deployment)
1. John 20:19-20
On the evening of that first day of the week,
when the disciples were together, with the doors
locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood
among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’
After he said this, he showed them his hands and
side. The disciples were overjoyed when they
saw the Lord.

2. John 20:21-23
Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the
Father has sent me, I am sending you.’ And with
that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the
Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they
are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are
not forgiven.’

3. John 20:24-25
Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the
Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus
came. So the other disciples told him, ‘We have
seen the Lord!’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I
see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger
where the nails were, and put my hand into his
side, I will not believe it.’

4. John 20:26-27
A week later his disciples were in the house
again, and Thomas was with them. Though the
doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among
them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ Then he
said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my
hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my
side. Stop doubting and believe.’

5. John 20:28-29
Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’
Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me,
you have believed; blessed are those who have
not seen and yet have believed.’

6. John 20:30-31
Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the
presence of his disciples, which are not recorded
in this book. But these are written that you may
believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,
and that by believing you may have life in his
name.

7. You may or may not see God’s
PURPOSE behind all that God asks
you to do, or the places you find
yourself in, but that doesn’t mean
there isn’t one.
Deployment is ESSENTIAL to living the Christian life.
We are called by Christ and enlisted with Christ to be
DEPLOYED in Christ to the world.
8. Here we have powerful LEADERS
currently locked in by fear.
Too often we remain IMPRISONED behind our own
fears.
Jesus comes to them in their fear and speaks a word
of PEACE.
9. Fear locks us in but Jesus MOVES us
out.
Jesus’ mission CONTINUES through you.
Being Christ out there is the difference between
DOING church and BEING the church.
10. Jesus deploys us with POWER.
Our Commander and Chief has deployed us with
EVERYTHING we need for our part in the mission.
Many may not read the gospels but they are
READING you to see if this Jesus’ stuff is real.
Who do you have the OPPORTUNITY to be Christ to
in the everyday routines of life that in which God has
already placed you.
11. Please take a moment to fill out your
Communication Card
My Next Step Today is to:
( ) Do the home life help (in bulletin)
( ) Believe that God has a purpose and plan for me.
( ) Identify what fears may be
imprisoning me
( ) Reflect on the difference between “doing” church and
“being” the church
( ) Each day ask God to help me “be Christ” to those I
meet.
