Connecting faith to life
1. John 1:35-37
The next day John was there again with two of
his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he
said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God!’ When the two
disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.

2. John 1:38-39
Turning around, Jesus saw them following and
asked, ‘What do you want?’ They said, ‘Rabbi’
(which means Teacher), ‘where are you staying?’
‘Come,’ he replied, ‘and you will see.’ So they
went and saw where he was staying, and spent
that day with him. It was about the tenth hour.

3. John 1:40-41
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the
two who heard what John had said and who had
followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was
to find his brother Simon and tell him, ‘We have
found the Messiah’ (that is, the Christ).

4. John 1:42
And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at
him and said, ‘You are Simon son of John. You
will be called Cephas’ (which, when translated, is
Peter).

5. Connecting faith to everyday life
begins with carving out TIME for
growing in faith.
Andrew was a RELIGIOUS man before he knew Christ
DEDICATED time to God means time not spent doing
other things.
Religious activity needs to lead us into a closer
RELATIONSHIP with Jesus.
6. Religious activity leads us down a
DEAD END road if it becomes an
end in itself rather than a bridge to
Christ.
When people say that Christians are hypocrites they
are saying they can’t see the DIFFERENCE religion
makes.
Jesus asks them to examine their MOTIVES
They are not looking for what Jesus can do for them,
but to KNOW Him.
7. We see in Andrew one who simply
BROUGHT people to Jesus.
…whether or not we are able to BRING them to
Jesus, at least we can say, we BROUGHT Jesus to
them.

My Next Step Today is to:
( ) Do the home life help (in bulletin)
( ) Carve out daily time to spend with God.
( ) Examine my relationship with Christ beyond mere
religious activity
( ) Identify where I need to look more like Christ
( ) Ask God if there is someone I should invite (or bring)
to church next week.
