•The main task is to make printed information accessible to blind and visually impaired people
•All in one: a library, a publishing house and a production center for braille and audio books
•The library comprises about 40,000 volumes: braille books, braille sheet music, audio books and reliefs such as geographical maps and calendars
•The DZB edits and publishes 12 magazines in braille and audio formats

•Converting sheet music into Braille music notation and retransferring it
•6200 sheet music are available for lending about 700 for buying also edúcation in braille notes is offered
•Sheet music for professionals and lay people
•Cost-effective and fast production in high quality with IT support
•Output: Individual accessible formats like Braille, large print and DAISY
• 3 permanent FTE
•Project 2003-2009

•A project to make non-fiction publications accessible
•5 FTE in a 3 years project
•Developing individual transformation services of non- fiction reading materials for blind and visually impaired
•The LEIBNIZ software makes it easy and therefor cost efficient to publish in different formats like Braille, DAISY and large print books

14. BADI – current DZB project
Goals
•BADI stands for “Barrierefreie Aufbereitung digitaler Inhalte“
•Guideline to create accessible content in EPUB 3 format
•Expanding Leibniz tools to create EPUB 3 books
•Prototype of a reading system on basis www.readium.org
•Creating different non-fiction example books in EPUB 3
•3 permanent FTE
•Project: April 2014 -September 2015

15. JOBLIB – next DZB project
•Cooperation: DZB and MVB
•Using LIA knowledge to develop an Information portal for the DZB.
•Goal is it to provide blind and visually impaired with better access to a catalogue of all existing DAISY and braille titles
•establish a small BIP / enlarge the number of titles / get better access to non fiction titles of German publishers
•Funding by German government (BMAS)
•Beginning: January 2015 / 3 years possible Funding about 1.1 million €

•Workshops for publishers and service providers
•Further cooperation with LIA and DAISY Consortium
oi.e. transfer titles information in a world wide catalogue
•Hosting and sustainability by DZB
