Trusquare solidarité internationale lowernine.org-1834
1. Trusquare Solidarité Internationale
working with Lowernine.org : a group of 20 French
and enthusiastic students and 3
teachers, welcomed and led by a dedicated and
friendly non-profit team
2. Because a member of the group had worked with them
before, we knew the amazing work Lowernine.org had been
doing to help local residents go back to their homes after
Katrina struck in 2005, and we wanted to help and feel part of
the community
3. We did and learnt so much in a couple of days !
-Carpenting and painting at Mr Jackson's house
4. Tiling stairs, painting, but also hearing about
Karen's tragedy and efforts after Katrina, to bring
her mum and sister home
5. Because that's what Lowernine.org has been
doing for years : making people move back
home !
6. Thanks to Lowernine.org, we were able to help, but also to
understand tragic situations like these better. We also
understand ourselves better. This has been such an
enlightening experience for both youngsters and adults.
What we know now is that we want to do it again !
7. So we will definitely come back, hopefully every year, with other French students,
but also adults who are inspired by Lowernine.org's action. Our association,
Trusquare Solidarité Internationale was founded with that partnership in mind.
The idea is to advertise their action and have volunteers come help from France
but also from New Orleans itself, through the contacts we now have there.
8. Why we want Lowernine.org to win
the Super Service Challenge ?

Well, because they deserve it so much !
They're not your typical worldwide non-profit : they're a
small, friendly and flexible structure living close and for the
Lowerninth ward, relying upon volunteers to make the
neighborhood live again.
They certainly need the money. Not for anything fancy, but
to simply pay the bills, the gas, food for the volunteers and
materials for residents who can't afford them.
That's why we chose this non-profit. For its simplicity,
sincerity, and because..it just won't give up and we love
that type of tenacity !
9. So please help Lowernine.org win and continue their
amazing work. Through them, The Lowerninth Ward
and New Orleans will win too. Thank you !
