For many verbs we make the ING form by simply adding -ING to
end of the verb.
eat - eating speak - speaking
Verbs ending with -e , drop the -e and add ING
hope - hoping ride - riding
Verbs ending with one vowel and one consonant (with the
exception of w, x, and y), for one syllable verbs, double the
consonant and add -ING
jog - jogging sit - sitting
For two syllable verbs, If the 1st syllable is stressed, just add ING
answer - answering offer - offering
If the 2nd syllable is stressed, double the consonant and add ING
admit - admitting prefer - preferring

Dear Sam,
This is the last day of my conference and
we're not working this morning. It's really hot
and we are having a great time.
There are a lot of sports activities in the hotel
and we are keeping very busy here.
And not just working! Atlantic City is fantastic!
The boys are playing beach volleyball and the girls are
sunbathing, drinking some soda, juice, and talking about the
event. I'm sitting on the beach, enjoying the view and writing
this postcard to you.
