Bilinguals who only speak a language should be encouraged to learn anther World Language or work with community members to learn to read and write their own language

- During their school career, the value of the dominant culture is made starkly clear to bicultural students.. When students earn credits for their first language, it begins to show that the school values their identity. Their bilingualism may have been viewed ask a deficit. - Students who study a world language for just one year score an average of 38 points higher on the SATs.
