The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) will be holding
its 2nd
Marina G. Dayrit Lecture Series 2015 with a topic on “"Role of Librarians in
Digital Scholarship” on March 27, 2015, 8:00am-12:00nn at 3rd
floor, Mini Theatre,
Lyceum of the Philippines University, Intramuros, Manila.
The lecture series, named in honor of our founding president Ms. Marina G. Dayrit, aims
to provide a fertile learning environment for new ideas and enlightened discussions
among library and information professionals in the country.
Digital scholarship is the use of digital technologies and new media as sources of
research evidences and methods of inquiries for better research outputs, publications
and preservation of knowledge. Librarians and information professionals play important
roles in the practice of this new scholarly concept. Thus, this lecture specifically
aims to:
a) introduce the concept of digital scholarship;
b) present innovative roles for librarians and information professionals in adhering
to this practice; and,
c) provide strategies and techniques to support the practice of digital scholarship.
Registration starts at 8:00am. Registration fees are at Php300 for members, Php350 for
non-members and Php200 for students to cover for light snacks and certificate.
You may also renew and apply for membership during the forum. Fees are at Php200 for
individual and Php500 for institutional members. More information about membership
will also be available at the registration/secretariat’s desk.
