Volunteer Screening: Reframing the Practice
A webinar to share what’s hot with Volunteer Screening
Do you have the right volunteer serving in the right position? Is your client having a good experience?
Most importantly is the community that you serve safe in the hands of your volunteers? Answers to
these questions lie in your organizations' volunteer screening policies and practices. The key to a
successful volunteer screening practice is to use the steps in a way that best suits a specific position.
The Screening Handbook (2012 ed.) commissioned by Public Safety Canada and content developed by
Volunteer Canada was introduced to the non-profit sector in March 2012. The publishing of the
handbook was followed by a national training initiative funded by Public Safety Canada.
In 2013, the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network (OVCN) was entrusted to
deliver the training to all Volunteer Centres across Ontario and successfully
concluded the certification of two batches of trainers representing your
local Volunteer Centres.
