2014 ChangeTheWorld Project Profile

  1. 1. ChangeTheWorld is funded by the Government of Ontario and delivered in partnership with the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network (OVCN). More information can be found at ctw.ovcn.ca. ChangeTheWorld helps to inspire youth to volunteer and work towards their 40 hours of community engagement, to develop new skills and to broaden their awareness of community service organizations. The ChangeTheWorld - Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge is a call to action for youth aged 14 to 18 years to volunteer through a wide variety of exciting community initiatives. ChangeTheWorld is entering its 7th year and is now a 6 week campaign with one goal: get high school students to volunteer in their community. In 2008, ChangeTheWorld was launched as a pilot project with 7 Volunteer Centres. Today, it has grown to 23 Volunteer Centres across Ontario. # of youth volunteers 274 7,859 11,328 14,922 27,961 37,937 0 5,000 10,000 15,000 20,000 25,000 30,000 35,000 40,000 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 To date, over 100,281 youth have volunteered over 430,000 hours! # of volunteer hours 1,251 27,853 41,683 69,845 123,987 169,464 0 20,000 40,000 60,000 80,000 100,000 120,000 140,000 160,000 180,000 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 The campaign also provides an opportunity for community service organizations to engage youth in meaningful volunteer roles to equip them with relevant skills and experiences preparing them to be healthy contributors in their communities and schools. The 2014 ChangeTheWorld - Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge will be held from April 6 through to May 19. The target is to engage over 33,000 youth in volunteering a minimum of 99,000 hours over the course of 6 weeks. uth t, n ce
