Click through the following tabs:
Profile – ensure your privacy settings are set to a
level that you are comfortable with, and you edit
your Public Profile
Email preferences – select frequency of
messages, who can send you invitations and the
types of messages you are willing to receive
Groups, Companies and Application – set
frequency of group digests, reorder, view
Account – privacy controls, settings, email &
password

- 22. Contact Import
You can import and invite contacts from your personal email accounts
from the Add Connections page.
1) Click the Add Connections link in the upper right of your LinkedIn homepage.
2) Click the icon that represents the email provider you use. If you don't see
your provider, click the Any Email icon.
3) Enter your information.
4) Click Continue.
A new window will appear where you are requested to authorise
LinkedIn to import your contacts.
Important: LinkedIn automatically selects all contacts on the list that is displayed.
If you don't want to send your invitations to everyone on the list, be sure to
uncheck the Select All box and individually check the boxes next to contacts you
want to invite.
Click Send Invitations.

- 24. Invitations to join your network
To continue to build your network, use
the following tools:
• Invitations to connect can be sent to
anyone you know and trust. Bring up
their profile page and click the
Connect button.
• Introductions can be sent through
one of your direct connections to help
you communicate with a LinkedIn
member who is two or three degrees
away from you.
• InMails are private, paid for messages
that allow you to directly contact any
LinkedIn member who isn't a 1st
degree connection, while protecting
the recipient's privacy.

- 25. Receiving a connection request
You’ll receive a connection request in your Inbox.
• Depending on email notification settings, you may also
receive an email to alert you of the invite request. This is the
default setting.
• Once the request is accepted, you can choose to archive it.

Request recommendations from those familiar with your work to
enhance your status. Click the Recommendations button under the
Profile tab
Recommendations can be for non-employment related work also, such
as friends from your education
Nurture your professional relationships. In addition to requesting and
accepting recommendations, make sure you recommend exceptional
colleagues

The power tool of LinkedIn and your best opportunity to network. Groups are
informal communities formed around industries, professions, niche topics etc.
Any LinkedIn member can create one and there are now over a million groups.
• Find and join the right groups, and it's easy to keep up with news and trends,
make connections, ask and answer questions and even land new clients
• Borrow ideas - Searching is useful, but so is following the lead of people you
respect. Go to their profile page and check out the groups that person
belongs to, and one or two may match your goals
• Watch, listen and get a feel for how the group operates and then gradually
start to participate with comments and postings to raise your profile
Search for Groups:
Click the dropdown next to the Search box and
select Groups. Enter your keyword(s) to view the
options available. Or, go to the Groups Directory
under the Groups tab and search keywords

A Company Page is a place for companies to provide more information about their
products and services, job opportunities and company culture. Any LinkedIn member can
follow a company that has set up a Company Page to get updates on key developments.
To follow a company:
• Click the Companies tab at the top of your homepage and search for a company.
Then click Follow Company in the upper right of the company's Overview page, OR
• Move your cursor over a company name on someone's personal profile, and then
click Follow Company from the mini Company Page if one appears, or click on the
link and follow

LinkedIn Applications enable you to enrich your profile, share and
collaborate with your network, and get the key insights that
help you be more effective.
Apps, eg your blog or legal updates, are added to your homepage
and profile enabling you to control who gets access to your
information.

There is a separate tab for Invitations within your
