Editor's Notes
Mobility has inspired a proliferation of new devices, with the smartphone and tablet markets growing at the fastest pace. Today’s employees have an average of 3+ devices between their laptops, phones and tablets. Although 1 or 2 of these devices are usually personally owned, employees expect to be able to work from them anytime, anywhere.

Prediction of the future
~ 10 Mia devices till 2018
With this surge of new devices and form factors entering the enterprise, the question every business leader should ask themselves is, “are [these devices] business-ready?”
OEM devices inden for alle kategorier (skriv op på flip over)
Might your business decisions makers have app projects (som I ikke er involverede i?
Hvad gjorde I for at komme igang?

Here’s what I mean by “Business Ready”.
Business-ready devices are highly secure and manageable. This means your corporate data is vigorously protected at the hardware and software levels, as well as at the device, user, app and even data levels.
Business-ready devices are flexible and predictable. This makes it easy for you to quickly and easily integrate new devices, so your employees can quickly return to their mission-critical line of business apps.
And finally, business-ready devices offer choice in form factor and price, so that you can ruggedise them to go where business takes you – a hospital, a manufacturing plant, even an oil rig.
Tal ind til forskellen imellem Atom og Intel Core baserede – Core betyder tykkere, kortere batteritid, mens Atom baseret giver længere batterilevetid, tyndere devices, billigere I pris og er måske tilstrækkeligt I mange sceanarier
[Now to shift gears a bit], let’s consider the range of device requirements companies are trying to meet for their various audiences.
In a typical office, we see a mix of knowledge workers and executives, among other roles.
Let’s start with the busy, ultra-mobile executive who doesn’t want to carry 3 or more devices. In many cases, the go-to device for these users is a tablet, or 2:1 device, giving them the choice between a keyboard and a tablet. The Surface Pro 3 Lenovo Helix fits perfectly here
Mobile knowledge workers, on the other hand, have a different set of requirements and preferences. They often choose power, working from ultrabooks, like the Lenovo X1 Carbon, convertibles and their phones that are lightweight and provide longer battery life.
Lenovo:
HELIX (USP:Tastetur m. ekstra batteri, uden blæser)
Thinkpad 10 (USP: Dock og fingeraftrykslæser)
Thinkpad 8 (USP: Størrelse og skærme (fuld HD))
Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2-10" (inkl. BT tastetur) (USP: nyt design med praktiske funktioner, batterilevetiden på 18timer og højtaler med god lydkvalitet).
And less-mobile knowledge workers, like engineers and developers, might prefer a higher-powered, less-mobile desktop machine to get their work done, like the Dell XPS 18.
Now consider the field, where we see technicians, doctors and retail associates requiring ruggedised mobile devices and peripherals, like the Panasonic ToughPad 4K and point of sale systems like the Bluebird PB30. These all help get the job done without risk of device damage.
And just like mobile knowledge workers, we see mobile sales reps prefer to work from ultra-portable smartphones and tablets, which allow them to share information quickly with customers, while maximising face time and personal connection.
[All in all], there is a range of device needs within your organisation. And whether at home, in the office, with a customer or at the job site, your employees need smart, connected, business-ready devices to help maximise their mobile productivity, while keeping your corporate data safe.
Ironically, the one device all employees carry everywhere is their phone, yet many businesses have enabled only email and calendaring on these devices. There are many reasons for this, from security to the fact that many employees own their own mobile phone.
[But] as we see businesses move away from a BYOD to a CYOD model, you can imagine how employees, when equipped with the right business-ready smartphone, can go beyond email and calendaring to extend their mobile productivity that much more.
Let’s watch a short video showing how the Nokia Lumia series is designed with your business needs in mind. Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tb6MxNCN-R4&list=PLFA9BF36229B11A58
Let’s look at a few customers who are leveraging business-ready mobile devices, taking their businesses to the next level.

Timing: 4 minutes
Key Points:
Delivering immersive, modern-style mobile applications can provide your customers with a rich, engaging, and social experience of your brand.
Windows 8 provides a no-compromise approach to delivering both a beautiful user experience and the security, stability, and performance that you require. And through the Windows Marketplace, you can tap into a much broader potential market for your apps.
Script:
Mobile computing is enabling a huge change in the way people live, providing a dramatically more real time and contextual experience for interacting with people and information through devices. Location and sensor data transparently enhance that experience, integrating the virtual and physical worlds. By pulling social connections and data into the experience, users can interact and share in real time. The popularity of the mobile experience has grown so much that, according to a Gartner article, “in developed markets, one-quarter of users use their smartphones as their primary Internet access method.” It's not a question of “if”—it's a question of when and how will you adopt a broad customer-facing mobile strategy?
For business, the opportunities—and the stakes—are high. To a retailer, the same device that navigates a customer into a store can redirect the final sale to the competition. To a bank, the mobile phone may quickly become the primary way a customer conducts their financial business. For healthcare providers, mobile represents new opportunities in tracking progress and compliance with treatments—helping increase the effectiveness and efficiency of treatment and lower costs. Every industry is affected. While this is quite possibly the “nirvana state” for marketers, every IT leader recognizes the challenges in delivering experiences that protect customer information and data while providing connected and consistent experiences across device types.
Deliver immersive, connected customer experiences with Windows 8
At Microsoft, we understand the need for no compromise between a beautiful user experience and secure, stable, high-performing apps. With Windows 8–style mobile applications, you can delight your customers with immersive and connected content experiences. So let’s talk about some key features of Windows 8 style apps for your customers :
First, the new UI is about content before chrome, which means your app takes center stage. Metro style apps are full screen, immersive experiences. They are fast and fluid designed for touch-first and take advantage of new gestures like swipe-to-select and drag-to-pan.
You can use Live tiles to engage users right on the Start screen with relevant, personalized content. Or Notifications to deliver updates and information that users care about real-time, and draws them back into your full screen, immersive app experience.
And with both LOB and B2C apps, Windows App Contracts are important part of the experience. Implementing the Search contract surfaces your app and content across the whole system.
And the Share contract gives your users the ability to broadcast what they are doing in your app to their contacts and social networks drawing more users to the experience.
With the Microsoft platform, the possibilities are truly endless.
To help you reach your customers in new and exciting ways, we’re connecting Windows, Windows Phone, and Xbox devices to cloud services and delivering delightful, familiar experiences across those devices. From the Windows 8 style interface, to the integration of Bing and Xbox LIVE, we’re bringing you a whole device ecosystem of more than 1 billion users.
For your CMO, we’re providing the tools and insight that they need to better understand what consumers want and deliver engaging, relevant, targeted experiences that will convert them into customers.
Above and beyond the actual app experience, the Windows Marketplace gives you the single largest potential market for your apps. The Windows Marketplace gives you truly global reach with both Store and apps in over 100 languages and 80 market-specific app catalogs. The Windows Store is on ever y device with full payments support and flexibility.
It’s a fully modern store with all the things you would expect from a modern store, including a curated experience, full commerce experience, and installation on every device.
It supports a wide range of business models with flexible payment options and the best economics.
Optimized for discoverability, Windows Marketplace promotes your app-curated lists, editorials, Bing search, and Internet Explorer 10 site icons. It’s easy to distribute through Windows Marketplace with a transparent approval process and straightforward certification requirements. And remember, Windows 8 apps will run on Windows 7. With over 500 million Windows 7 licenses sold, iOS and Android doesn’t come close to your potential reach on Windows.
Transition: But mobile apps really light up with the huge possibilities of content and services you can connect to, let’s look deeper into how cloud-based services can help you do that along with meeting the challenges of a growing global mobile user base.

Presenter guidance: Use this slide to differentiate our approach to cloud services: people-focused, comprehensive and enterprise-grade
Key points:
Our approach to services embodies three inherent strengths that in combination is something only Microsoft is positioned to deliver:
Microsoft services are people-focused
For years, Microsoft has been delivering experiences that appeal to end-users driving maximum productivity, regardless of location or device.
The Microsoft cloud brings our same focus on people to the arena of services – mirroring the familiarity and ease-of-use from our on-premises products into our Cloud services. This all leads to higher user adoption and improved productivity with lower training costs.
More than 50 million active users of Office Web Apps tap in to Office 365 productivity capabilities – benefiting from anywhere access to familiar Office tools, plus enterprise-grade email, conferencing, collaboration, enterprise social capabilities, and more IT services. O365 is easy to set up and use, Work from anywhere and is Worry-free for IT
1 billion+ users choose Office, Skype, Yammer & SkyDrive every day to get work done and engage in communications & collaboration. In fact, 1/3 of WW phone traffic is driven by Skype.
Our cloud apps are designed to work together to drive personal, group and business productivity. For example, sign in with your Microsoft account to any of your PCs running Windows 8 and you'll immediately see your own background, display preferences, and settings. So, with the new Office, your personalized Office goes where you go.
We have a comprehensive set of high-value services
We offer an unmatched breadth and depth of capabilities from platform to productivity apps to business solutions…an integrated portfolio of cloud services across platforms, apps & devices along with one of world’s largest developer base & partner ecosystems.
No business service you create today lives on an island – for example, a mobile app can be tied into your financial and collaboration solutions – and you can take action and connect through email or IM tools. You need all of these to connect together in an agile way. You need a comprehensive cloud – from platform, to productivity, to business solutions to do this. It doesn’t make business sense to make a one-off software decision in today’s world.
For example, over 80,000 organizations use Microsoft Dynamics to achieve better performance by connecting with customers in new ways, automating business processes, and gaining real-time data and insights to proactively improve operations. Dynamics CRM runs in Outlook and brings together Office 365, Yammer and Skype services to help sales, marketing and customer service teams collaborate to find and win new customers, as well as nurture customer satisfaction and loyalty.
The Microsoft cloud provides a single sign on capability (with common identity and Active Directory integration), an integrated management view across cloud and on-premises and a common development platform across PC, phone, browser, on premises and cloud.
Microsoft services are enterprise-grade.
What matters most is working with a company you know that has the experience, reach and footprint you can trust fully. Leading governments, Financial Services organizations and others rely on Microsoft because our Cloud services are global, secure, reliable and fault tolerant.
No other cloud vendor can match Microsoft in our experience on running and building services - MSN in 1995, to Hotmail, Windows Live, and Bing today, in fact, we were running internet-scale services before Google was born.
We pour all our learning from this experience into our services – from platform, to productivity, to business solutions. Today, 1+ billion customers at 20+ million businesses in 76+ markets worldwide depend on Microsoft’s cloud.
Microsoft allows customers to leverage their investments today while adopting cloud at their own pace. Windows Azure and Windows Server together deliver the best cloud platform for hybrid IT implementations so you can integrate the Microsoft cloud platform with your existing IT assets and infrastructure.
Microsoft built our platform with a design-for-first-party-but-think-of-third-party mentality. As a result, the core of the Windows Azure cloud-computing platform is based on technologies developed to run Bing, as is the Windows Azure storage service.
Beyond being battle tested, enterprise-grade includes the highest levels of security, privacy & reliability, which all requires heavy investments in engineering excellence and state-of-the-art data centers. Microsoft goes after the most rigorous global and regional security, data protection, accessibility and environmental standards.
Our cloud infrastructure and state-of-art data centers comprise one of the largest networks globally with geo-replicated customer data – and with 30,000+ software engineers involved in cloud-based activities, our customers get the benefit of that massive technical expertise.
Today, our cloud services span a wide range of capabilities, including:
Business solutions through Microsoft Dynamics that bring together the Microsoft cloud platform and productivity apps with easy-to-use CRM and ERP apps to help organizations grow fast while managing costs.
Applications and services, such as Office 365 that offers the best and deepest productivity experience and spans unified communications, email, collaboration and social capabilities.
A consistent cloud and enterprise platform powered by Windows Azure, an open and flexible cloud platform that enables you to quickly build, deploy and manage apps across a global network of Microsoft-managed datacenters. And with Windows Server for on-premises or private clouds, the two provide the broadest and most-trusted array of data and infrastructure services.

[Purpose of this slide: Set the context that when we say “Threshold” we mean the converged platform.]
Nothing shows “One Windows” more than the way our platforms are converging, a journey which ends with Windows “Threshold”
With the release of Windows 8 we laid the foundation.
Windows Phone 8 took advantage of this. And, Xbox One was built on top of Windows 8 and even uses the same runtime.
With the release of Windows Phone 8.1 the runtimes from phone and desktop came together. Over 90% API convergence.
Threshold brings EVERYTHING together, the foundation is the same, kernel, drivers etc. – from PCs to phones, to IoT devices
And the application platform is the same across all of these devices.
[Purpose of this slide: land the converged app platform message and answer the UI question]
One Windows starts with the user experience.
Our converged platform means you can choose to create the same experience on all these devices or choose to change the experience according to the device.
On a laptop or desktop machine you have much more screen real estate for example so you can choose to display more information on these screens than on a phone.
You might want to take some data offline on the phone while you don’t need that functionality on the desktop pc at the office.
Building universal Windows Applications gives you that choice.
[Purpose of this slide: Introduce the One Windows promise]
[Click] This means we are working to converge everything across these areas (app platform, security and identity, management, deployment, UX), and more.
Why? It’s simpler, and it solves problems.

If you are deploying Windows 8 today, our ask of you is not to stop doing that. Upgrading to Threshold from Windows 8 is the best option.
For your devices running Windows 7, our advise is to look at Windows 8 for your touch devices now with and eye towards upgrading them in the future – and begin to plan for Threshold for your non-touch devices.
