« Perdre la face » (keeping face + giving face)
C’est un point très important pour les pays collectivistes.
C’est la honte suprême d’être se faire remarqué / groupe.
L’objectif de chacun est non seulement de ne pas perdre la face mais aussi et surtout de ne pas faire perdre la face à autrui.
Il faut faire en sorte que l’autre (celui du même groupe) « looks good ».
Lorsqu’un individu fait volontairement perdre la face à un autre individu c’est l’insulte suprême et elle est lourde de conséquences. (suicide…)
L’ego « individuel » n’existe pas.
« Être humilié » est une expression chinoise qui est apparue dans le langage anglais tardivement.
« Perdre sa fierté »
Une expression italienne résume cette situation : « La Bella Figura »
La peur du ridicule… On s’occupe de notre image, et si notre « l’embellissement » de notre image passe par « le ternissement » de l’image de l’autre, ce n’est pas un problème.
Les scores collectivistes sont plus nombreux sur la planète.
L’individualisme est l’exception.
Sur 101 pays scorés : 29 sont individualistes (scores &gt;50)
L’association high PDI + high IDV, spécifique à la France, Belgique et Italie, fait que c’est difficile pour d’autres cultures de travailler avec nous.
Cette association est paradoxale et engendre des comportementaux paradoxaux.
= Beaucoup de politique, de jeux de pouvoir, de tensions entre les différents niveaux hiérarchiques…
= beaucoup de « coups en douce »… tout semble très organisé et régenté et tout se fait par derrière.
DEFI : arriver à l’expliquer aux autres.
Hongrie : IDV + low PDI : le low PDI fait baisser les craintes pour communiquer de façon directe. Les critiques sont plus faciles.
Proche de l’Allemagne. La communication très directe peut nous choquer.
Turquie / Roumanie : COLL + high PDI : Il faut accepter de passer du temps pour établir la relation. Communication très indirecte.
Il faut savoir où est le pouvoir.
COLL : s’intéresser au contexte de la communication, c’est plus important que le contenu… où on nous invite, qui parle…
