2. Cleveland Metroparks
The Cleveland Metroparks was established around 1917. It
was a vision brought to life by William Albert Stinchcomb who
played an integral part in the early development stages of what
would later be unofficially deemed The Emerald Necklace of
Cuyahoga County.
During the 1920’s through the 1930’s the Metroparks,
through levies were able to expand their land ownership which
is now up to 21,000 + acres and 16+ reservations, 155-acre
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo with 3,300 animals, and hundreds of
miles of trails for walking, biking, and horse riding(Metroparks).
3. Metroparks Budget
The Metroparks prepares a zero-based budget , will accounting
for all of their activities under a government fund rather than a
enterprise fund, because most of their budget is being paid out
through costs of operations. Operating budget of $92 million
and 514 full-time employees and 104 part-time employees.
Annual parks system income is $85 million(News-Herald).
