  • 1. Podcasting for Investor Relations
  • 2. What is a Podcast?  A podcast is a series of audio or video files in a downloadable library similar to episodes of a TV or radio show, that can be accessed via a mobile device.  You can think about a podcast as an audio version of a press release or blog post.  Episode are generally chronological and can be downloaded and listened to offline.
  • 3. Podcast Benefits for IR  Mobile access! Investors and analysts are spending more time on their phones so it’s crucial to provide them access to your content on-the-go.  Some people find audio preferable to reading a press release or pdf.  Very few companies are taking advantage of this medium, so you’ll be highly visible now.
  • 4. Podcast Content  It’s best to start with the basics like re-purposing press releases and earnings calls into podcasts. Podcasts don’t need to contain material information.  The next step is to create chapters within your podcasts for easy navigation.  Additionally, create an audio FAQ based on feedback from your stakeholders.
  • 5. How are Podcasts Used?  Analysts and investors are using podcasts to listen to earnings calls on-the-go. With many companies to keep track of, analysts download as many as a dozen podcasts and listen while driving, on public transport, or writing reports.
  • 6. Is There Actually Analyst Demand?  Yes! Podcasts were the most requests tool by analysts at the 2013 NIRI Southwest Regional Conference.  Analysts want mobile content and creating a podcast means they can get your information anywhere.
  • 7. Not Convinced?  Below is a sample of some of the companies taking advantage of podcasting. There are also a few apps that have realized IR podcasts are valuable. EarningsCast is worth checking out.
  • 8. Interested in a Podcast?  IR Smartt has a simple pricing scheme to quickly get your podcast up and running without any effort on your side. We’ll do it all.  We will setup your podcast, then take your earnings calls and press releases and turn then into audio files. We’ll also provide monthly reporting.
