Purpose  For students to engage in an in-depth, collaborative inquiry • To provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate independence and responsibility for their own learning • To provide an authentic process for assessing student understanding • To demonstrate how students can take action as a result of their learning • To unite students, teachers, parents and other members of the school community in a collaborative experience that incorporates the essential elements of the PYP • To celebrate the transition of learners from primary to middle/secondary education
  4. 4. Planning Students will collaborate with teachers to identify the: • Issues/problems to be solved • Intended learning outcomes • Activities which will take place • Assessment criteria
  5. 5. The exhibition must entail: What are the points of view? How is it connected to other things? What is it like? • incorporate 8 key questions Why is it like it is? How is it changing? How do we know? How does it work? What is our responsibility? • require all students to use the transdisciplinary skills Social skills Research skills Thinking skills Communication skills Self-management skills • offer opportunities for all students to display positive attitudes • offer opportunities for all students to engage in positive action • provide practical applications of all the transdisciplinary themes Who we are How we express ourselves How the world works Where we are in place and time How we organize ourselves Sharing the planet
  6. 6. Staging The exhibition included: • examples of written work • oral presentations • examples of technology, such as working models • performances in any medium – dance, drama, film, video, mixed media, ...
  7. 7. Exploring the Transdisciplinary Theme Group-decision making on the topic: Poster was placed in classroom to collect ideas for topics under the Transdisciplinary theme of “Sharing the planet”
