4. How the Experiment Worked
• Each deliverer worked with two groups of mixed ability
• One group was delivered new reading strategies and the
other denied these strategies
• Deliverers then assessed outcomes based on written
assignments, at the end of a period of teaching
• Purpose - Creating a blueprint for good practice
5. Results and Effect on Pedagogy
• 5 out of 7 Learning Areas returned assessment results
that were higher in groups who were delivered new
reading strategies
• Effect on Learners and Effect on Teachers
• Visual Approaches to Reading
• Supported Independent Learning
