Charles Perrault was born in 1628 in Paris and studied law. He became secretary to the Finance Minister and worked in Versailles Palace. In his later years, he published fairy tales for children such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Sleeping Beauty, which became famous in France and other countries and were inspired by folklore. Charles Perrault died in Paris in 1703 at the age of 75.
