2. BuzzFeed Now
• I believe that the next era of BuzzFeed lies in the Live Feed platform
• Everyone is trying to stay as up to date as possible and this gives us an
opportunity to interact in real time with our audience
• BuzzFeed India decided to go live and watch a piece of ice melt
• The results were actually hilarious, more than 80k people tuned in and the
comments were hilarious
• the phrase “anytime, anywhere” is truer than ever. Users can watch
live broadcasts, whether on their PC or mobile device, in a matter of
seconds.
3. Snapchat
• The idea of posting as recent as possible content all began with Snap
Stories
• Its not exactly live but it provides recent content that people can
respond and react to
• That is basically where BuzzFeed is today
4. Facebook
• Facebook took the next step and began
streaming Facebook Live
• Facebook live blew up and people
everywhere were “Doin it live”
5. Instagram
• After seeing the mass success
of Facebook live Instagram
soon followed suit and added
Instagram Live in order to
keep up
• Instagram Stories that remain
all day have become very
popular, combining Snapchat
and Facebooks model for live
streaming
6. HQ
• The newest fad with the kids today is
this live streaming quiz game called
HQ
• Co-creator of Vine, Scott Rogowsky,
asks a series of 12 questions twice a
day for a substantial cash prize if you
answer them all correctly
• Thousands of people tune in all over
the country and comment and react
live as the game goes on
• Naturally this reminded me of
BuzzFeed quizzes
7. Cash Cab
• Most recently I was shocked to
discover that even random old
discovery shows like Cash Cab have
incorporated Facebook Live into their
shows
• Again, similar to BuzzFeed, the Cash
Cab is basically a quiz show during a
lucky passengers taxi ride through
NYC
• If they don’t know an answer they
have the opportunity to go Live and
ask the Facebook community
8. What BuzzFeed Live Could Be
• BuzzFeed Live
• Live Interactive news Stories
• Live Interactive quizzes like HQ
• “Learn as you go quizzes” that play out step by step based on what the public
agrees/votes on
• By enabling social media users to create real-time live streams of their daily
lives and more, these platforms remove the stigma that video has to be well
produced and edited to be seen, shared and generate revenue
