5. Our trailer sticks to most of the conventions, we chose to do so because of
Neales genre theory which says that the audience has certain expectations of
a genre which helps them understand it. So we wanted to stay as close to the
expectations as possible.
The conventions we didn’t stick to however (voiceovers and happy ending)
was due to lack of time. We were going to have voice overs but in the end we
realised we weren’t going to be able to do them. So instead we have the
music slightly louder.
With the happy ending, we wanted to not give much information away in the
trailer, so in fact the audience doesn’t know if there is going to be one or not.
6. We also tried to follow Propp and Todorov ‘s narrative theories of the character
roles and the structure. We have the hero the princess and the villain in the
trailer, Jake is the hero (he wants something) Dani is the princess (the prize) and
Olly is the villain (standing in the way).
We have an equilibrium where Jake and dani are together, the dis equilibrium
when Olly comes between them, and a resolution of Jake killing Olly.
