2. This is the image that we picked to use
for our poster.
3. Here, the picture illustrates the way we made the background black then faded the image’s sides into the
background to make the image look like it is coming from the shadows, using the faded tool under ‘Image’ at
the top.
4. This is ‘Layer 1’ as you can see in the box on the right hand corner. It means that we will
be editing the image that is called ‘Layer 1’ and in this case it is the mask. Here, we
added a box grid using the tool along the left hand side. It creates a guideline box to
show you how much you will be cutting your image.
5. Over here, you can see a some small letters which have been names as ‘Layer 2’ in the
right hand side box. To get some text written on our work, we had to click on the ‘T’ sign
on the left hand side bar which indicates the text box then draw a box on your picture of
where you would like to place some writing. You can then change the size of the letters by
highlighting what you wrote and using the different tabs at the top to change the font
type, the size, the colour, if you want it in the centre, or side and many more features.
6. Poster analysis pictures
• In the beginning we chose the previous image to
be used for the poster advertisement.
• However, while we edited and tried effects we
decided it looked to plain because of the black
background plus the actual image of Kevin was
dark, so we thought this wouldn't be eye-catching
enough for our target audience and decided to
change the image.
• Instead we chose this picture of him facing his
back towards the camera while holding a knife
and his mask.
7. We prefer this image as we think it is so much more creative and effective. It gives the audience time to think about what this poster
is trying to show them. We decided to have LSU (La Saint Union – the building where all things horror happen. It has been faded into
the body depicting that the person shown in the picture has grown fond of this building and has become a part of it. To do this
technique you need to use the fade tool. We also inserted some blood smudges going across the wall which indicates there will be
violence and gore in this film. Also, having the antagonist holding the mask and knife could imply that he has a double identity.
8. Here, we included some rain drops and other effects to make the picture look more like a horror genre film. It makes it look
more gloomy and un-nerving compared to the picture without the effects. However, having all this effect makes the picture
look more complicated and we still need to add text which could mean that it will look to crowded.
9. This is The texts we added and the texts we included to make it have more conventions of a poster. This means that we have
to include a website link, such as the twitter sign at the top left hand corner. We also included a line on top of the film’s
name which implies how good the film is. We also added our tag line below the film’s title and some newspaper ratings
which show 5 stars meaning it is really good.
10. Here, we chose the font for our film title to be rigid and sliced so it can portray what is included in the film. We added a age
limit because some of the scenes are inappropriate for a younger audience. Also, we included the actors/actresses and
production names at the bottom using the specific poster font that we researched and found out was the most used.
