The month of July commenced with a significant happening for the Company. Balmer Lawrie signed the
MOU for the year 2016-17 with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India on 12th
July 2016. Let’s work hard towards achieving the targets effectively and help our Company scale
greater heights.
The Government of India recently completed two years in office successfully. Hon'ble Prime Minister,
Shri Narendra Modi has driven various initiatives across different areas with great aplomb, with a view
to transform our country into a progressive nation that is geared up to compete with the “bests” in the
world. The government’s portal on “Transforming India” has consistently been highlighting the various
initiatives taken by the government to enhance economic growth and help “transform” India. The portal
transformingindia.mygov.in was launched in March with the purpose of presenting a periodic report
card of the government. The government has highlighted its achievements via its @mygovindia Twitter
handle. Some of the impressive achievements (#TransformingIndia) are:
Building Roads, Building India (A record length of 6,029 kms of highways constructed in 2015-16)
Reformed Governance Mechanisms (The estimated growth forecasted for the current fiscal year is
7.75%. More than 250 infrastructure projects are running on time and 7 projects are running on
schedule. Number of delayed projects have been reduced by 9%.)
15 FDI proposals approved in sectors like Manufacturing, Defence etc.
Growing Industrial Production (Government policies are driving the economy ahead. Economy is on
the upswing with key sectors witnessing robust growth.)
On World Health Day, many new initiatives and Apps were launched. Check them out on
https://transformingindia.mygov.in/all-infographics/
#StandUpIndia (Creating an empowered India by promoting entrepreneurship among backward
sections and women. The trinity of StandUpIndia, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and Pradhan Mantri
Jan Dhan Yojana has been received very well.)
Electricity to every village - 7008 un-electrified villages electrified
Subsidised LPG connections to more than 2 crore households under the “Ujjwala” scheme
Give it up campaign which made more than 1 crore Indian give up their LPG subsidies
The World celebrated the second International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21st June 2016. Hon'ble Prime
Minister, Shri Narendra Modi took part in the Yoga Day celebration in Chandigarh and urged people to
integrate yoga in their lives. Shri Modi said that Yoga is not about what one will get, it is about what
one can give up. In this issue of BLOOM we bring you glimpses of the activities held on IDY across
units/establishments pan India. As promised, we also bring you glimpses of the World Environment Day
programs held across units and establishments, in this issue. BLOOM congratulates all the employees
who were promoted recently. As always, do not hesitate to send your contribution, suggestion or
feedback, if any, to mukhopadhyay.mohar@balmerlawrie.com.

3. Appreciation for Travel, Delhi from SPG
Ms. Sandhya Malik, Head [Travel Services], T&V was proud to receive an appreciation letter, dated 20th
June 2016, from Mr. Peeyush Pandey, Inspector General, Special Protection Group (SPG) - Cabinet
Secretariat, Government of India. SPG - Cabinet Secretariat has been utilising the services of Balmer
Lawrie (BL) for international ticketing of SPG teams being deployed at various foreign destinations. The
journey period for such deployments could be highly tiresome and inconvenient if proper planning was
not done for route selection. Sincere involvement of BL in selection of routes and connecting flights,
based on the deployment of SPG teams at multiple places even in very odd hours, was highly
appreciated. On some occasions there were requests for booking tickets and re-scheduling/re-routing
of tickets at short notices. In all such cases, the deployment of the SPG team would not have been
possible, had there been delay in assistance from our Company. The Ticketing team always rose to the
occasion and provided wholehearted support to the SPG. A special mention was made of Ms. Divya
Rastogi, Ticketing In-charge of BL for SPG. On behalf of SPG, Mr. Pandey conveyed his appreciation to
BL and Ms. Rastogi in particular for the co-operation received. BL shall continue to service the SPG, in
the same way, in the future as well.
