Mobile started to emerge as a medium for online commerce and we saw that many of our customers were having 20-50% of all online sales coming from Mobile devices. Also, the current Mobile Ad-Tech players were focused only on App install ads and hence there was a need in the market to enable first party data based advertising to Vizury customers
Our vision for Mobile is to enable first party data based marketing for Advertisers. We believe that first party data has the potential to increase Mobile marketing results by 4X as compared to non-first party based marketing.
Vizury started working on Mobile in April 2013 & released our first product by June 2013 with a couple of beta customers
Mobile advertising is a very fragmented eco-system and also there are many geo-specific trends. Vizury tackled this complexity by looking at the Mobile market along two key dimensions – Mobile OS (iOS v/s Android) & Mobile Engagement Platforms (Mobile Web v/s Mobile Apps). Based on these dimensions, we were able to identify four different segments of opportunity and each of these segments had technological and eco-system challenges.
Android Mobile Web: Android Mobile Web users can be targeted using cookies and messaged. But usually the inventory pool available on Android Mobile that can support cookie based targeting is very limited. Most publishers do not support cookie based buying on their Android Mobile Web inventory as user based targeting is a new frontier in Mobile Ad-Tech. Also in most geos, 50% of the Mobile inventory is inside Apps and cookie based targeting is not possible on this In-App inventory
iOS Mobile Web: 98% of the iOS users use Safari browser for accessing Mobile Websites. Third party cookies are blocked on Safari browser and hence user targeting becomes tough. Privacy compliant solutions for iOS Mobile Web user targeting is still in early stages
Android Mobile App: Cookies do not work inside Apps and hence the user targeting in Android Apps is usually via a device id called Android_ID. However, this id is not privacy compliant as the user cannot opt out of this Android_ID based messaging. Google is introducing a new Android Advertising id that solves this privacy issue by allowing users to disable access to this id. However, this new id is still in very early stages of adoption across the Mobile ecosystem
iOS Mobile App: Cookies do not work inside Apps and hence the user targeting in iOS Apps is via a device id called IDFA (ID For Advertisers). This id is user privacy compliant as the user can disable access to this id. However, the IDFA is still not widely adopted in the complex Mobile Advertising landscape
We identified Android Mobile Web as the biggest opportunity for now and released a MVP for this segment. Subsequently we have also brought out products for addressing all the other segments

We have seen great success with our Mobile retargeting campaigns across geos. We are seeing that m-commerce transactions have increased by 3x over the last one year. For example, in India around 7% of all online conversions were happening from Mobile in begin of 2013. Currently in begin 2014, we see that around 20-25% of all online conversions are happening from Mobile devices.
Vizury has around 50 Mobile retargeting campaigns active now and delivering upto 10-20% incremental revenue for customers. We are seeing 0% customer churn and customer adoption rate of around 1000% on a quarterly basis
