choice)

FASHION DESIGNINING
• Fashion designing is the art of the application of
design and aesthetics or natural beauty to
clothing and accessories. Fashion designing is
influenced by cultural and social latitudes, and
has varied over time and place. Fashion designers
work in a number of ways in designing clothing
and accessories. Some work alone or as part of a
team.
SOME OF THE BEST FASHION DESIGNERS IN THE WORLD
• 1. VALENTINO GARAVANI- Hailing from Voghera Italy, he knows how to make a
woman look like a goddess. Though his shows speak for themselves, the one
place we are sure to find a Valentino dress is on the red carpet. Having dressed
many of the world's most famous leading ladies, he has proven his talent and
risen to the top as The King of Elegance.
• 2. TOM FORD – He is also extremely talented, Born in Texas, Tom was originally
trained to be an actor! He is not only the Creative Director for Gucci, he's also
the Creative Director for Yves Saint Laurent. Ford stole the show at the first
ever VH1 Fashion Awards and won the Best International Designer Award in
2000.
• 3. BETSEY JOHNSON. Her designs are brilliant, bold and fun. They are funky and
edgy, with a lifetime of flare. Straight from the American fashion capital [New
York] Betsey is known for "her celebration of the exuberant".
• 4. DOMENICO DOLCE & STEFANO GABBANA. Here are two household names.
They both are true geniuses. Every woman who wears D&G can be sure to feel
sexy and confident. They both hail from Italy, and are known for making the
"stars look like Stars".
• 5. STELLA MCCARTNEY. I think the name says it all, but being the new girl on
the block, we definitely have to give her credit. While being the daughter of a
superstar, Stella has managed to carve a huge place for herself in the fashion
world. And we love her for it. Her clothes are the height of class and speak
volumes of her personal talent.
FASHION DESIGNING IN INDIA
• Fashion is a huge industry in India. With
globalization Indian Fashion has got a wider
platform to display their talents and introduce
the 'Sari' to the world.
• Right from the traditional salwar kameez or
sarees to churidars, kurtis, the semi formal way of
wearing it over trousers or jeans, Capri’s and the
highly elegant and contemporary style of draping
sarees, from simply cotton blouses to halter-neck,
puffed sleeves, deep necks, and lycra-fitted
blouses.
Top fashion designers in the country.
• 1. Ritu Beri - She is known as the first Indian designer to present a collection in
Paris. Her first line of clothing in 1990, called Lavanya was a complete success
for Ritu in India and on the international market, with the range selling out very
quickly.
• 2. Rohit Bal - Titled as the 'India's Master of fabric and fantasy' by the Time
magazine in 1996, Rohit Bal's sense of aesthetics is finely honed, and each of
his creations is handcrafted to perfection, with meticulous attention to detail.

the fashion world in late 1980s. Winner of Yuv Rattan Award, she is counted
among the creative and innovative designers of the country. Rina Dhaka has

Jakarta. Her Singapore shows in 2001 and 2002 were major success.

revolutionized the fashion scene in Bollywood by envisioning a 'look' for the
character. He was exclusively asked to design clothes for Michael Jackson for his
appearance during the Bollywood Awards held in New York and the performer
was greatly pleased with his work.
• 5.Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla-' The boys', as the twosome of Abu Jani and
Sandeep Khosla are known in the fashion circuit, can be considered among first
names in that made it big, by way of success, attention, fame and hype. It is a
creative alliance that exudes attitude and talent. They were one of the first to
display their creations at Harrods
