PERSONAL STATEMENT
Nationality: British
DOB: 3rd January 1986
I'm an enthusiastic, lively person interested in learning as much as possible about a job. I
have excellent communicative skills and I'm looking for a role working with people in which
I can have the opportunity to improve my customer service skills. When I complete my
degree I would very much like to go into a museum, library or artefacts processing
environment. I would love to work within an archive for finds processing post dig, scientific
analysis post excavation or working with the public trying to make people as passionate about
the past as I am.
I'm competent and confident working alone or with other people. I believe that the skills I
have obtained within these roles would translate well into an office and administration
environment. Ideally I am looking for a role within an administration environment, or
anything in which I can show that sales is not the only measure of success.

Qualifications earned: 10 GCSE: 9 A-C grades

English Literature and History (Grades A,C,D) respectively.
2005-2007 University of Nottingham
Qualifications earned: Undergraduate certificate in Archaeology
2012-present Birkbeck College University of London
BA Archaeology
OBJECTIVES
Currently I’m employed in Sales Support, a role which has given me active experience of
face to face sales and telesales, also has provided me with a fairly solid opportunity to
advance my customer service skills. My current role encompasses all areas of office work
from accounts work, administration, customer service and product knowledge to sales and
card processing. I suppose my main objective would be to still further the skills I’ve gained in
customer service building on my interpersonal skills and my communicative skills.
I’m interested in using my skills with people and technology. I would like to build up a bank
of experience in customer service and although I believe I would suit retail and customer
service as a career I have acquired skills through study that would translate well into an office
or administration environment.
I’m studying to finish my degree part time at the moment and the skills I’ve learnt through
past study and the skills I’m currently learning I feel would translate well into an office or
customer service environment.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
 I’ve raised money on the street for various causes. I’ve also helped with ideas for
interesting ways to give information and raise awareness for the charities I’ve worked
with. In addition to ideas for fundraising and awareness in school including “Red Nose
Day” and the “Genes for Genes” campaign, causes the school always encouraged us to
come up with ideas for, I have helped to raise money for local charities, by running the
bar at funded quiz nights. I believe the most memorable was the fundraiser for the local
hospice. Some friends and I ran a charity fundraiser on Croydon high street for a charity
that had helped one of our friends before she passed away and during my time as a
world war 2 re-enactor we used to collect for charities like help for heroes and the poppy
appeal.
 Raising money for charity has been a hobby as well as an extra-curricular activity. I
find that they’re a rewarding way to spend time, as it challenges you to think
creatively, hones your skills with talking to the public about certain issues and all the
time you’re raising funds and awareness for causes that deserve attention.
HOBBIES
 As far as my interests are concerned, I’m a bit of an all-rounder. I’ve always had a keen
interest in history and I keep my interest active by reading on various topics and
working towards the rest of my degree part time. I read a lot of classical literature as
well. As well as reading I also visit museums and places of historical and natural interest
regularly. Ideally as a career I’d like to work in a museum setting handling and
cataloguing artefacts, although I’d also like to be involved in the law practices that
protect such sites.
 I’m also very interested in music. At school I played violin in the orchestra and
participated in many concerts. I was also very involved in the resident choir there and
sang with them on various occasions, both in and out of the school setting. Since I left
school, I have kept up my interest in the violin and incorporate it into the band I play
in. Although I more commonly do vocals and guitar.
 Retro computer games
 Playing, composing and listening to music
 Visiting historical and natural sites
 Reading
 Socialising and meeting people
 Attending public lectures and occasionally volunteering on archaeological projects and
digs
 Studying BA Archaeology
