AMU51 MUSIC WORKSHOP 1 Transition
In this unit students learn to play keyboard as a basis for understanding music and
choose an instrument to develop skills on. They develop an understanding of the
elements of music and create their own compositions. Analysis of a variety of styles
is also an important part of the course, as are solo and ensemble performances.
Assessment:
Practical participation and assignments as stated work requirements.
Excursions:
To musical performances - additional costs may be involved for trips to performances.

SCA50: The Sky and Beyond Transition
This Science unit investigates the phenomena of the sky and space and our use of
both mediums. Topics include: the atmosphere, weather, flight and motion, gravity
and astronomy of the solar system. Students build skills in using laboratory
equipment and also build various working models.
Assessment:
This will involve:
• topic tests
• projects, models, practical and research assignment work
• active participation in class activities.

SCA51: Electronics Transition
This unit is an introduction to Electronics. Students will examine and design the
construction of printed circuit boards and the characteristics of some analogue and
digital electronic components. They will be introduced to basic digital electronics.
Assessment:
This will involve:
• tests
• practical work
• practical testings
• investigations.

SSH54 MEDIEVAL HISTORY Transition
In this unit students investigate, analyse and describe the lives of people
who lived in the period 1050-1500. Topics could include life in a castle,
battles, knights, princes, serfs, etc.
Assessment: Satisfactory completion of all work requirements.

SSE51 OUR CHANGING EARTH Transition
In this unit, you take a geographical and historical look at the earth's crust
and atmosphere. You learn what is inside the earth, how it was formed,
and how it has changed over time. You also investigate the social and
economic impact of these changes on humanity.
Assessment: Satisfactory completion of all work requirements.

SSE52 OUR NORTHERN NEIGHBOURS Transition
You study how people in some countries near Australia live today, and how
they lived in the past. You also investigate the geographic features of the
selected countries.
Assessment: Satisfactory completion of all work requirements.

THE52 TASTES OF AUSTRALIA Transition
In this unit students investigate how Aborigines and early settlers of Australia survived
and developed food practices. Students investigate how immigration and technology
affected the diversity of foods available, then design and produce appropriate food
examples related to food models.
Assessment: A well maintained workbook showing evidence of all work topics
covered, including assignment work, planning and evaluation of practical tasks.
Participation in practical tasks both individually and as a group member to show
cooperation and management of resources.

TIN51 INFORMATION PROCESSING 1 Transition
Through the use of basic work modules students learn key-boarding skills and
how to use a range of software packages, including word processing,
databases, spreadsheets and multi media packages. These tools are used to
solve information problems in which students are introduced to the process of
investigation, design, production and evaluation.
Assessment: Satisfactory completion of work requirements.
