Event trackers on everything 8-16 user interviews a month Regular surveys to identify more broad trends Light and fast data gathering
Weekly company standups include relevant metrics for the last month Whiteboard in the corner lists goals and records Everyone can be a part of the user studies, including watching the tape
Don’t over-manage forward resources like designers Put stories for implementing their work in the backlog and let them work towards that PM/Designer need to be ahead at least in the visioning, if possible Sometimes it’s not possible, accept that that’s going to happen and that that’s OK
Whiteboard sketches all the time Decisions turn into IxD sketches on post-its or low-fi wireframes Helps estimating and seeing forward New ideas WILL occur to people, it’s OK to change
Do whiteboard work where everyone can see it and jump in if they want Pairing isn’t just for developers, shortening the communication barrier is awesome for all sorts of things It’s not about my idea, it’s about the best idea. If I say I’m wrong, it makes it OK for others to say it to. It’s OK to be wrong.
